Back on task, in the US if you want an actor for an extended period of time you have to strike a contract which can be substantially more expensive than a few days work at a set rate. And with the time between expansions being months or years that makes contracting a voice actor for the duration of XIV very uneconomical. Sadly, this means 4.0 may well have yet another new roster of voice actors. And 5.0 after that. And, again, limited pool of actors to pick from due to voice acting's maligned image making getting the same roster again slim. The Japanese voices don't seem to have changed, but voice actors there are treated wildly different than they are in the US. But this is repeating myself... This is just the caveat of having a voice acted game that's also an MMO.

I actually don't mind the new english VAs. I particularly like some of them, actually.
Even Krile doesn't sound that bad to me. I mean, none of them sound really AMAZING, but none of them sound terrible to me either.

I am fine with everyone. Likely because I am not picky about who does voice acting for a character or what accent they use. Same with dubbed anime. As long as they do not sound like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bangt7d9vGA then it isn't a big deal.

I'f we're comparing 2.0 with 3.0 VA then I'd say 3.0 is overall much better from the get go.

However, by the end of A realm reborn the VAs all got better with their roles and we all got used to them. I am not sure why would SE re-hire new VA though? Could it be due to it being cheaper? I think there was (or still is) a strike by video game VAs

I just hope this isn't a trend. I'd hate to have new VAs for 4.0

Since we're on the topic of bad voice overs, check this out if you haven't seen it already. It's from an Anime called Black Heaven. In the Japanese version they hired a white guy to voice a big, buff black guy, while in the English version they hired a big, buff black guy to voice the big, buff black guy.

People complain about the change between 2.0 and 3.0, it was the change between 1.0 and 2.0 that really bothered me. Admittedly I dont remember much of it, but Yda's voice....ugh! Everytime she spoke in 2.0 I just cringed and muted it and read the words in her 1.0 voice. I won't say it was bad, just drastically different to what I was remembering of Yda

    https://youtu.be/t2ahpI7XvlU?t=2m25s

It just completely changed her personality. On top of that, 1.0 seemed to have actual lip syncing. As for 2.0 to 3.0...felt like to me all the better sounding voice actors got made worse, while all the ones that really needed a new one got way better. The only 3.0 voice that really bothers me is Yugiri's one. Her old one was great

I have heard some of the 1.0 voices though I started with 2.0... I did not like Yda's and Papalymo's voices in 1.0. It felt way and out of place somehow though I did like Yda antics in some of the earlier cutscenes with her. I do like Y'shtola's voice from 1.0 and 2.0 (I think 3.0 is the same VA unless I'm mistaken).

Overall I prefer the 2.0 voices over the 1.0 and 3.0 voices the most.

So regardless of whether or not the entire game's VA was good or bad, that particular scene is still improperly used as an example.
Forced laughing is one thing (and it not hard to forcefully laugh actors do it all the time) That scene sounded robotic, like they synthized the voives and just pressed 1 key, giving it a mono toned sound. So that scene is more or less used well. Becaused it was coupled with the fact the tidus had an annoying voice and yunas voice didn't fit the acting. Which is why people use that scene.
