The gathered items should be rolled on as well to make things fair. Gatherers can roll on gear that fighters worked for, so battlers should be able to roll on anything gatherers dig up. Loot rules for mats could be Greed Only or Loot Master depending on the setting. However I wouldn't call someone a leech when they didn't afk. They were doing an activity which was intended to be done in the instance. SE needs to have a look at the loot rules, that's all.

Or SE can revised the category of Diadem. Diadem DW+M need 8 people, basically the set up we have now. Diadem Gathering just need 4 people, they cannot change jobs to DW+M (and vice versa if you do the Diadem for DW+M). This way, each group can do their own thing to their liking, and still get to meet their objectives and get their esoteric. However, if you want the gears, you MUST go do the Diadem DW+M. Fair is fair.

Why? Because some people and cultures start by assuming the best in People, which I find to be a far more complimentary approach than assuming the worst and treating everyone like lying, cheating, exploiting, scumbags.

Since you can switch back and forth and it does not put all your battle skills on cooldown it really is more beneficial for the gatherer's to participate. Many of the nodes are guarded by monsters that will kill people trying to gather said node. For the best experience what a group should do is clear an area then check if there are botany or mining nodes to clear out and then move on to the next batch of monsters. Gathering does spawn chests as well and each person gets individual nodes just like out in the rest of the world. So what I would recommend is at the start talking to people and then methodically clearing as much as you can. (Of course being prepared to run to called Star mob spawns ).

Just because those who choose to gather aren't killing the brontosaurs with you doesn't mean they aren't contributing. It's on the duty list, gather X amount of things. I'd call that contributing! But, as people seem to be forgetting, Square did warn about changing classes frequently in Diadem. Further, Exploration was originally pitched as a company activity so it's a given that the party wouldn't find some just gathering while rolling on loot to be 'leeching', rather they'd be doing exactly what the company was expecting. The only reason Exploration is available in Ishgard is for those who aren't in companies to be able to partake. That includes people who just want to gather the rare materials there. I don't see a problem, especially given all they can do is roll Greed.

This is really bad, you have trolls dropping in, fishing the whole time, wrecking your credit, and rolling on the stuff you get. Just had one do it the whole run and laugh about it.

They could at least make it so that if you don't participate in the kill, you can't roll on the loot. We just had someone drop in and fish the entire run on a platform with no monsters, and roll on every piece of loot. If someone wants to gather, they should need out protection. Fishing the whole run, when the objectives are complete in the first 10 minutes is not contributing. Let them queue in, in a gathering queue if thats what they want. Not as battle.

Another alternative is to make everything gathered go into the loot list.

Let me just start off by saying, "Thank you!" for making this topic. This has to be my biggest pet peeve with this content. Trying to DF this in its current state is all but useless.

They should of never lumped gathers and combat together and no they are not leechers cause that the only way a person can get to that area and gather mats from that area. Cause not all FCs have a house. As for the rolling on loot I could see the point there but even if they don't roll on loot people will still call them leeches.

The ones that laugh about it, and roll on all loots dropped are most definitely leechers.

Also, remember that when they aren't participating in the battles, it makes it much more difficult to achieve credit enough to get loots.
Either they should be unable to roll, or anything that they gather should go into the loot list for the party. If they can get combat loot without participating, they the gathering stuff should be obtainable by those not gathering. It would only be fair, and would serve to stem the leeches. There would still be the issue of those who join and just afk though.
