Oh man that battle music
RIP FFXI
Can't wait to get back home from work already just to do this! FFXI will always have a special place in my heart. I'll probably get the feels when I do the event. It better be awesome.
XI is not shutting down their servers any time soon, so for now it does continue. With that said, all things do come to an end at some point, so this seems to be a nice proper send-off to the end of their story line.![]()

They could easily copy certain battle aspect from FFXI that do works very well and implemented in this game. And maybe brought over certain NPCs. Heck, "assimilating" certain FFXI storyline and expansion is probably a fast way to print money (and less work for their team). For next expansion, I suggest Yoshi P and team to adapts Chains of Promathia storyline into FF14. I give them license to print money, starting now.
For example:
They could easily adapt BCNM, simply have us pay 10,000 GC seal for a key item (can be reduced to 5,000 in the future), let us do pre-made party of 4. Each patches, they could choose 5 bosses from any level 50 and above dungeons, and make them into BCNM battle style, basically you fight that one last boss, but each has their abilities tuned up to current level. End of battle will drop 2 gears and 2 craft materials, plus 1 minion. Each battle can also select difficulty from easy, normal, hard and very hard. Gears dropped has a level range from 180-210. Obviously easy mode give you gears 180, and 10 levels up for each difficulty. NO DUTY FINDER until next patch down the road. This will promote server teamwork and friend list, as well as giving us a way to waste those GC seals.
