Help with Reshade.

Anybody able to help me out with Reshade?

I can't get it to work. It says "compiling effects" and "success" as if its loading up properly but it doesn't actually display any effects and none of the hotkey toggles to enable/disable are working.

It only loads up in borderless full screen and if I go to fullscreen it freezes... I would really like enhanced motion blur and depth of field. Help!

Also the only thing I did notice was a micro-stutter...

Did you actually download a preset of some kind or did you just install the framework? Some you have to set up your own hotkeys. When it comes to some games I've had trouble getting some to work, other presets work just fine

I installed a preset from https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...pics_tutorial/ and followed the guide for installing the preset and reshade (I'm fairly certain).

The preset is supposed to have hotkeys enabled already F9, F10 and F11 to enable/disable the effects. I also tried using the scroll lock hotkeys as well as hitting every F key on my board, and it did nothing.

I dragged the preset files into the Reshade folder. Like the guide said?

I have reshade on MGSV and it crashes if I tab out of the game, so I kind of imagine that is why it only loads on XIV if I run it in borderless fullscreen?

I really don't care about all the stuff in the preset. I mostly just want motion blur and depth of field. So if theres an easier way to enable that, and just that.

I also tried loading effects from the "pipeline" in "mediator" by ticking them off individually. This made no change in the game.

I've never seen a program called Mediator but I think I'm using an older version of reshade (0.18 beta or something)

You could attempt dropping my entire reshade folder into your Game folder, as I've done this with several games and it's worked while I couldn't get other presets to work. Otherwise, these were the instructions I used back when I set it up, I just have my own files instead of this person's

(Edit: although my hotkeys are f10 for AO, f11 for DoF, f12 for everything else)

Does it have DoF and Blur enabled? Ill give it a try.

AFAIK Mediator mostly just suggests which directx .dll to install and which reshade dll (32/64bit)

Also are you running DX11 or DX9?

DX11. Also yes DoF and ambient occlusion (thats the one that will lag you) are on by default. You shouldnt play with DoF/blur because it really doesnt work well for XIV- it will blur text and chat boxes. I tried to tweak mine to be able to see it most of the time, but its really just something you use for screenshots

Good grief. I finally got it to work. I got a black/white launcher because it installed a .dll into the launcher for dx11. After MUCH screwing around with placing and removing files it finally works. Lol. The DoF is pretty neat.

However it seems unfortunately that its too much of an FPS hit even with A/O off. (even though it works great in MGS5).

The good thing about reshade is you can turn all the extra effects off, even while in game. If it's too much you can just go into sweetfx settings and change all the 1s there to 0s to disable the extra features. I am usually tweaking mine to get it to look nice while still be performance friendly (for myself) so yeah it's not perfect yet
