Limsa Lomisa - The Lower Decks (x6/y12)

Steps:

1. As I was talking to my retainer my que for Alex Normal popped.
2. I clicked commence.
3. I completed the duty.
4. I clicked on Summoning Bell and clicked on Retainer 1 which now gives this error. "Your retainer did not respond."

This is not a paid for retainer.

I have commenced duties in the past without quitting the retainer inventory menu so I did not think this would error like so.
I have logged out and in, and teleported to a few different zones, my retainer is still not responding.
