    Unable to download patch 3.1

I had no issue downloading the latest patch 3.1 on my Macs but on my pc an error pops up as soon as I try and open the launcher. A FFXIV boot error pops up in front of the window that downloads patch info. The error says unable to download patch files. This error has never occurred before.

There's a few solutions in this thread that may help. (None directly address your issue, but it's worth a shot?)

Thanks I tried opening FF14 by running as admin and that worked. I forgot that since i installed Windows 10 I have had to do that to save any changes in game. I hope that's fixed someday.

I get this problem as well. Admin mode does nothing for it.

    Unable to update patch file.

I had this same problem, tried several times and got the same error. I restarted my computer and it was able to complete the patch first try. I don't know WHY this worked, but it did, maybe it will work for you too.

I had a similar problem where after the launcher patched itself, it would load the launcher immediately followed by an error at which point it would shut it self down upon my clicking the "okay" button. I launched the patcher again though and it loaded just fine. Guess I lucked out.

Windows 7 btw incase that's relevant.

Had the same problem. It's fixed now.

Alright so after trying all the different methods of repairing it other than reinstalling or letting my steam check the local files (ie, admin mode, compatibility to previous windows, ect.) i decided to just turn my pc off and come back to it in a few hours.

I started the game again like I always do (but left the admin mode and compatibility to win 7 enabled) and now the boot, launcher and updater did their own proper update before starting the launcher and letting me log in.

I suppose it must have been me being in to much of a rush
