If you want to disable the darkside graphic you don't get a specific option for it, only, you can set your graphics to "Show limited" which gets rid of the effect at the ADDITIONAL COST of removing the effects of all your other weaponskills and abilities.

Can anyone else test this to confirm?

I believe this fix was mainly aimed at reducing the amount of graphic spam from other players running around with the darkside effect on, not necessarily providing the owner the option to disable it. You can, but, yes, you're going to lose some other effects in the process. That's to be expected.

This was the proper change. There doesn't need to be a specific setting for the darkside graphic (if that were the case there should be a specific setting for every ability/spell effect in the game so I can choose exactly which I want and don't want to see). What needed to happen was that the darkside effects had to start obeying the same global battle effect settings that all other special effects were subject to. And that's what they (finally, months later) did.

Oh okay, yeah you might be right about how it was mostly the effects of other players. Haven't played or visited the forums in quite some time, just remember it was a big complaint.

While what you say is true in regards to darkside obeying(and previously not obeying) the global settings, i'm not really sure that's what the players ACTUALLY wanted. Also, honestly, the patch notes almost seem to imply that there's a specific setting for darkside and that only its graphic can be turned off completely. From what I remember most of the complaints were about how annoying darkside was, not about how turning off other battle effects doesn't also turn off darkside...

I'd like to think that players also enjoy seeing full battle effects from other characters as well(with exceptions of course here and there).

Anyway, I don't have a DRK above level 31 so it doesn't bother me much if at all. Just thought it was amusing and wanted to see how others will react.

Actually, I've seen complaints before of aoe spammers in town. In my case, when I started on quests in 3.0 early access, all the effects around a quest npc caused my game to completely hang.. Had to turn off the ps4 after a few minutes, then wait in queue to get back in. Turned off all affects for people not in my party.. Haven't missed them.

Darkside hasn't bothered me too much, but at least there is an option now, sorta.

I don't see the loss given I've had my effects at 'Show Limited' this whole time, with everyone else's effects turn off.. I'm not big on the flash and flare so not having to look at it is nice. Kind of wish Limits still fell under the effects settings...

"Show Limited" also turns off my ability to see Unleash, which is problematic.

The phrasing in the patch notes was certainly misleading. I expected to find a "Darkside Visual Effect: On/Off" button. The patch notes gave me the impression that I could turn it off as a cosmetic fix.

I'm not sure what it is people were expecting, all the complaint threads on the forum boiled down to the Darkside Aura being a problem because it did not obey the global effects settings in the game client. Now it does. Problem solved.

The whole issue was with other people's annoying aura visible when you had disabled that effect. Now, if we were to grant disabling it for yourself, I'd want to also disable greased lightning effects because that's just as bad (if not worse), and I also wouldn't mind filtering out the audio on DRG AoE skills because that's far worse in town than Darkside ever was.

They really should just get rid of using all abilities when in the 4 main cities

How is anyone punished? Dark Knights get their disco lights, everyone gets to avois seeing them. Meturning off the visual effects for others doesn't affect them in any way, so praytell, what punishment?
