What do you think of the new recipes?

So. . .what do you think of the new recipes? What do you like about them, and dislike about them? Personally, I was hoping for weapons for blacksmith, because that's my favorite crafting class, and it happens to be the only one I made the full set for. I can understand crafted weapons being 'too powerful' or whatever, but I'm still disappointed there isn't even anything to make for glamour. However, since the mats should be easier to get now, and new crafting recipes that will presumably require the better gear, there may actually be a market for the crafting mainhands, so that may serve the save purpose. I was never close to end game crafting in 2.x, so I'm not entirely sure how the market works for fancy end game crafting gear in a normal (e.g. not restricted by favor mats) market

Also, ERMAHGAWD HAUKKE FLOORING WOOO. Now if only there was the wallpaper, and I would be as giddy as could be, even with my disappointment with the lack of blacksmith recipes. The fact that there isn't any Haukke like wallpaper is the main thing that keeps me from decorating my private room or small house like I want to.

Oh crap, meant to put this in the disciple of the hand section. Oops. Oh well, the item/synthesis/gathering section is still somewhat related to it.

    Too soon to tell.

If the titanium alloy ingot is a BSM specialist recipe, and all the tank/drg gear made from armorer are also specialist recipes.... That'd mean you'd have to spend 2 out of 3 specialist souls just to do that.
I hope that is not the case and specialist recipes are for just useless glamour/housing things.
But if the new ilv185 items are specialist recipes, then Square Enix will have failed miserably again.

Depending on the cooldown on those Max Potions, I may or may not be specializing in Alchemy. Those are undoubtedly going to be specialist crafted.

They are not specialist recipes. There's absolutely no reason to be an ALC specialist.

The only specialist recipe is the "Dravanian Down Tree". Which is a housing item. Woo.

Well, making the bsm mat, titanium alloy ingots, doesn't seem to be very profitable, mainly because i can't sell any, and there's too many people making them on the mb. D:

Well, it's not hard to imagine why they're not selling. The new gear recipes aren't useful for progression, eliminating that market. They're semi useful for glamour and gearing alts I guess. However, as only a much smaller amount of people can make the recipes, the price is ridiculous on them. Since the only functional use (with alex normal uncapped, it's cheaper to gear alts with that) is to spiritbond them, nobody in their right mind is going to pay 2 million for a shot at a tier 5 materia, especially since they can get it from the diadem anyway with the bronze spoils. Since they're not selling in that market, the demand for my ingots is crippled. So the mats are plentiful, just not enough reason to buy them. I eventually just decided "screw this, I'm just gonna tank the price early" and went from 60k to 30k on my ingots. Only THEN did I sell any nq titanium alloy ingots, but I managed to sell some hq ones for 150k.

The new recipes? Useless vanity crap.

BUT they serve two important purposes.

    1. They're an introduction to specialist crafts. Anyone who didn't see BSM being in charge of the ingot is dumb, they've always been in charge of the ingot.
    2. They're an easily accessible way to practice your two-star craft rotations.
