They're not getting shafted if they don't get rewards from killing the monsters, any more than the people killing the monsters are getting shafted from the gathered items only landing in the inventory of the person gathering them. Everyone will get whatever the reward is from completing the goals, plus the rewards suited to the specific actions they did towards meeting those goals. I see nothing unfair about that arrangement
These are not dungeons. The objectives list is just bonus stuff for tomes and gear. There is no "failed" or "successful" explorations. This is open world content existing within an instanced map. Just going there means you win. Your time there is for you to do whatever and whenever you want. It's a playground, not some chore.
I suppose it depends on whether chest drops are locked out like that. If they are, that means someone's going to have to take the hit for the team and lose out on the potential best armor options in the game in order to meet gathering goals. They're not getting shafted if they don't get rewards from killing the monsters, any more than the people killing the monsters are getting shafted from the gathered items only landing in the inventory of the person gathering them. Precisely. It's the same as complaining that the FATE group next to where you're fishing is getting Darkscale belts and you're not, or that your inventory isn't filling with logs because someone is gathering near where you're killing beastkin! You have NINETY minutes in the Diadem to fight, gather, explore etc; you can choose to do all or part of it. It's basically the whole game in miniature. You can work together or apart depending on your goals. If you have a specific goal then you use PF, if you just need to get to Diadem you go DF.
Not really because you don't HAVE to do everything on every run. What happens if nobody has gatherers levelled? You're not going to fail. It may even be set up that you have to choose which goals to go for, or they may be random, or weekly. It wouldn't surprise me if the reward for each goal is minimal, say 10 eso, but that the reward is the gear gathered or looted itself. I think they've thought about the situation.
As a matter of fact i was and i meant for this content only seeing as the only other option would be to allow people to votekick which would cause a whole different set of issues. Were you here at launch? We used to have Castrum Meridianum parties with 4/8 players AFK leeching at the entrance.
A few rare unfair vote kicks are 100x better than almost every party formed via the DF being unable to do anything because half of its members are leeching.
Of course you don't have to. But if doing so is going to shaft someone, why would they do it?Not really because you don't HAVE to do everything on every run. I will wait to see how it plays out. There are up to 9 parties in each instance, and the gameplay seems cooperative, so you can probably just go tag along with some other party or parties and ignore the leechers, bots and trolls. If it gets really bad, like TOS-violating bad, make a plea to a GM.Anyone concerned about this? If votekick is not available, then DF explorations can become leechers, bots and trolls playground who could just remain at starting point and only loot for precious items and gear when their party obtains chests. And there's nothing that can be done about it.
Oooh, oooh, choose me for that! I like gathering.
