    Suggestions for new jobs

    New suggestions for jobs that would shake it up.

    Samurai (Dps); I think it'd be a mistake to make the samurai dps. There isn't yet a sword-wielding dps class and the samurai seems perfect for a damage-dealing sword wielder. They don't traditionally use shields!

    Geomancer (Tank); A magic-based tank would be amazing. The geomancer is like an earth-mage; creates stone barriers to protect allies, summons rock golems to take aggro, etc. Main weapon would be either books or rods?

    Chemist (Healer); A non-magic healer would also be a breath of fresh air. Chemists are item specialists. They'd use TP to use items from a "Stash" (like FFX-2); potions, ethers, stat-boosting items, etc. Could also use grenades, crystals, etc for offensive tactics. Some abilities would allow the Chemist to use items on the whole party. Main weapon would either be a rod or maybe a handgun.

    Samurai has long been talked about by the development team as a Job they would be very interested in adding, however it seems it's likely that it will be a tank and not a DPS. I've heard the reason it hasn't been added yet is because SE only recently added Ninja (NIN) to the game and didn't want to overload the game with too many 'Eastern' style Jobs at once, so it's likely we won't see SAM til... the next expansion probably (which most likely won't be til sometime late next year at the earliest).

    As for your other two Job ideas...

    Geomancer is technically what CNJ originally was at the launch of the original version of FFXIV, a mage class that had access to all elemental spells (including Fire, Thunder, and Ice elemental spells!), and even it's lore clearly states it's borrowing aether from the surrounding environment and manipulating that elemental power into a spell (this is why whenever you cast a CNJ spell you see lights and orbs swirling around you - that's the relevant elemental materializing in reply to your casting). So a straight GEO Job would be technically superfluous as an existing class already fills that position.

    Chemist is likewise technically already in the game, albeit not as a class you can use in battle. Alchemist however is a Disciple of the Hand, a crafting class, that makes potions and medicines. Because these items can be used by all classes irrespective of what class they actually are, it renders a specific Chemist Discipline of War moot. To be really honest, I'd love to see item use being more accessible - specifically the long cool down on using potions reduced or removed outright, as it makes using items rather obsolete and pointless.
