    Kinda laughed

    Yesterday's interview : "We're not planning in giving PLD a DPS buff"

    Patch notes :

    "Shield Swipe Is now an ability and does not trigger global cooldown.
    Recast time has been adjusted to 15 seconds.
    Potency has been reduced from 210 to 150."

    PLDs just gained between 300 and 600 potency per minute

    Well that's a good thing, PLDs are getting a DPS buff, but SE doesn't really know what they're saying or doing

    They don't need dps better emnity though and better AoE.....main reason why I'm hesitant on leveling my PLD.

    The point of the thread is not arguing about that. PLD did need a DPS buff tho, for many reasons that has already been stated thousands of times on the forums and they got it, that's good. Was just laughing at SE saying something and doing the exact opposite the day after.

    People yelling for PLD to get DPS but now you're saying they don't need the DPS?

    I found it funnier that we were promised a TP management buff and they took away the main tool for a 10tp goring blade reduction.

    Given the frequency it's applied that's not even half of a TP per second saved and a less than 1% reduction in our TP use.

    Where we ran out in 2:40 we now run out in 2:42.

    10 TP on one skill does a lot, trust me. You'll see on Tuesday. But for example, when NIN just came out, they could parse like current WARs for 10min straight with no TP issue, they increased the TP cost of 2 combo-finisher skills and it made them use their TPs even faster than MNKs (4min with 2 Invigorates).

    Exactly - in practise this equates to roughly 5% more dps when able to block consistantly. That's a really nice boost. Probably slightly higher than 5% more threat due to the 3x threat mod.

    The major thing is I went from being super down and disheartened two days ago when Yoshi said we were getting no DPS boost at all, to super happy that suddenly we get a 5% boost out of nowhere (along with a fun extra off-gcd to press which always makes combat feel more interesting). It wont fix all of paladin's problems by any stretch, but I'm certainly -happy-.

    The TP reduction is barely goign to be noticed though. I'd hoped for something like a TP refresh on Sheltron or the new Shield Swipe. 10 TP spent less every 9 GCDs isnt really going to help at all, especially as the new Shield Swipe change makes us LESS TP efficient than before - whilst the old one was always a DPS loss to use, at least it was a dps-per-TP efficient ability that could string out your tp drain on long blockable fights.

    The -10 TP on Goring Blade helps us a teeny tiny amount on Alex 4 with its unblockable rubbish, but any Paladin that filled in the odd gcd with the old Shield Swipe will see their TP use increase!

    It's not a huge dps increase considering it needs to be procd. Well just see more viability in PLD mt on physical content and more drk in the ot position. Oh wait- that doesn't reduce raid wide damage still. NEVERMIND. I find it hard to believe that anyone will magically want plds in their group just to sacrifice raid wide survivability to improve a single plds mt dps- and still no change to clemency and divine veil which would give us the utility needed to fill either role (mt/ot) sigh.

    For Paladin to be viable, encounter design needs to change. They're not likely to do that to current content. However, in 3.2, with wing 2 of Alexander, I think things will get better. They have not only said outright that they're increasing physical damage in raids, but they've also pointed out that Clemency and Divine Veil have very few places where they can be used effectively. Given that those two abilities are a huge part of PLD utility (that are only being used rarely right now), I think we can expect to see more places where PLD can shine.

    Nin got much heavier TP nerfs than we got buffs. This patch their buffs were much more significant. 30tp every 30s rather than 10 every 24.

    I already did the maths in my post it is 1 GCD.

    Also it is a rate balance. Invigorate brings NINs TP regen much closer to its usage making equal changes felt much more. Think 1/(X-1) curve. Where X is your TP usage divided by your TP regen. As the two become equal the curve is steep but if your usage is much larger the curve is shallow.

    Edit: before someone picks me up on it - obviously the true form is 1/(usage rate - regen rate - 1000), but the curve looks the same and can be plot online easily.
