Apparently Francel appears every time you aproach the place. I tried to run away and come back, he appeared every time. It was night time, did not try during day.
I wonder when I will be able to drink my cocoa without tearing up...

Haurchefant's battle title was Haurchefant of the Silver Fuller.

Could it perhaps be another name? It was pointed out that there were even those in the Heavens' Ward that have names such as Paulecrain Coldfire.
I guess we'll never know unless it's explained in the next patch or by a member of the dev team. My guess is that since he's a bastard son he cannot be buried with the Fortemps last name and instead has been given his mothers?
Oooohhhh, here we go!

I am full glad to hear that you are interested in aspects of Ishgardian life, my friend! Is it because you have received Halone's light in your heart and decided to make your stay in Ishgard more... permanent? Or perhaps you have already made your decision and you are simply preparing for your future Ishgardian? Ha, ha! Don't need to feel embarrassed, friend! After all, I find your interest in such an important aspect of Ishgardian culture simply... FANTASTIC!!
In any case... Every sons and daughters of Ishgard is given their name on their nameday when they were first brought into this world. For us, this is the most important part of ourselves as this will be the name we use to identify ourselves, it is the name which others use to call us and when the time comes, it is the name that will be left in the history books after our passing. So, as you can see, our Nameday names would be the most common type of names you see.
Next, is a part of names which is referred by other parts of Eorzea as "family" name, although Ishgardians do not use such a term. Due to our strive with the Dravanians, the law decrees that only the members of the Four Houses are allowed to use thse "family" names in order to maintain our hierarchy and identifying the allegiance of various nobles of Ishgard. Strictly speaking, ANY and ALL members of the Four House (servants, guards, wards, main family members) are to label themselves with this... "family" name, but it is a practice which we, the Four Houses, seldom use due to redundancy. Usually, our attire and coat of arms are more than enough to announce our affiliation. Only on some rare occasions where foreign dignitaries were involved do the members of Four Houses use our family labels as clarification. Come to think of it, such occasions are becoming more and more common , don't you think?
The next part is truly an important part of an Ishgardian name: the Knight's Name. Any aspiring Ishgardian always dream to be a knight! To live, is to serve! For me, I dreamed about being a knight since the day I can wrap my fingers around the hilt of a wooden sword. When I became a knight, it felt as if Halone herself had lifted me high above the Alabatha Spine and... Oh, I digress. Anyway, my Knight's Name was given to me by my best friend, Lord Francel. It is a little bit embarrassing really. It all started when we were children. Francel was always accident prone which always involved me rescuing him somehow. He started to call me his knight in shining armor even though I was not even a Squire, let alone a Knight. On the day I became a Knight, Lord Francel gifted me his beautifully forged sword and start to call me "Silver Fuller". I guess it must had some ring to it, because it stuck on pretty fast and soon I am known as the Silver Fuller among my fellow knights.
The only name that holds higher importance and honor is the Accolade. An Accolade is earned, not given. To be bestowed an Accolade signifies the pinnacle of an Ishgardian's achievement and to an extent, his life. Hmm? What's that? Greystone? By the Fury, friend! How did you find out about my Accolade?! ... I see. Well, it is not something I wish to become common knowledge. No, no! It's not that I am ashamed by it or dissatisfied in anyway! In fact, it's quite the opposite! The name was awarded to me by the Church on the day I was given the appointment as the Lord of Dragonhead. The name is to serve as a reminder of the importance of my station. "Under the steel-colored sky of Coethas, the Grey Stones of Dragonhead stand forever vigilant; an unwavering Sentinel, safeguarding the way to Ishgard for all days to come!" That, was my charge. It was after sometime I learned that it was Fa- I mean, Count Edmont had proposed the name "Greystone". I was overwhelmed with gratitude then, but at the same time I felt I was given the honor and glory which I don't deserve. A knight's duty is to live to serve. I am simply fulfilling my duty that is expected of me. It is unbecoming for a knight to accept honor which he doesn't deserve. That is why I chose to keep my Accolade hidden from public.
Well, my friend, that is all there is to know about Ishgardian names! Remember to ease off once in a while. If you ever need succor from the cold, warm food and companions are always readily available at Camp Dragonhead!

I apologize for the wall of text, but when we are talking about everyone's favorite NPC, I couldn't resist. By the way, the stuff that were said in the RP section are just my OWN conjectures with minimal in-game "facts" backing it up. The term Accolade is fake too, I just came up with it because it sounded cool. Basically, my thought process is this:
- We only see the first names of Isgardians because a) they don't have last name/not allowed to have last names or b) they have last names but choose not to use them (Kind of like Dunefolk Lalafell males)
- Titles are all related to Isgardian knights. Ex. Haurchefant of the Silver Fuller, Aymeric the Blue, Lucia the Radiant, Drillemont the Honest.
- "Last names" in game for Ishgardians are more of an adjective which describes the character's traits, personality or physique. Ex. Estinien Wyrmblood, Artoirel Ironbone, Haurchefant Greystone
As far as we know, was this only shown posthumously? Perhaps its the equivalent of Rest His Soul. Maybe its more formalized so Greystone is put on the names of knights or those killed honorably, while something like Whitestone is given to an important clergy member after s/he (well this is Ishgard, most likely he) died.
It reminds me of a friend who, due to confusion over language and foreign birth certificates, briefly went by the surname "sex:male" for a period of time.
Our memory of their faces is fuzzy, like an unidentifiable wad of fibers. -Anonymous Epitaph to the Warriors of Lint
"Haurchefant Greystone" also appears on the description of the wind-up toy. IDK it seems like a name but the presence of "Ironbone" on a character who was once "de Fortemps" confuses me. We could say it's a battle title ala Aymeric the Blue but his battle title is "Of the Silver Fuller" and that's been true through 3.0, not just the 2.0 stuff. As far as we know, was this only shown posthumously? I think it's really weird they put that in the item names when they've never used it or mentioned it previously. After I saw it I was expecting something in the MSQ update to shed some light on it but then nothing did.
This is the description on the minion.
"Crafted by the first son of House Haillenarte to honor the passing of one of House Fortemps's greatest knights, this miniature replica of the great Haurchefant Greystone only begins to tell the tale of a man who devoted his life to the service of his nation and his friends."
At the end of 3.0 you can read "Greystone" on Haurchefant's monument, written in Eorzean text. It's hard to make out because the texture used on the monument is low resolution.I think it's really weird they put that in the item names when they've never used it or mentioned it previously. I stared at that so long trying to decipher it after 3.0 and thought it said Haurchefant's Gravestone, but that didn't sit right with me. One thing I've wondered is, is that his actual grave? They refer to it as his monument and I thought one of the npc's said something about his body not actually being there.
