That thread is actually about the bunny suit and the Minfilia costume (the 0-2 in the title is for those two costumes). A minority of people with female characters tried to take over and make it about Minfilia costume feedback but the core message is still valid - guys are being left further and further behind each time there's a new content update :/
Read what you quoted. No where does it promise "male will get gender-balance gear from the Gold Saucer section".
Yeah it sucks that the head items aren't unisex when they said they will consider modifying head equips to fit males, but telling lies about what was and wasn't promised helps no one.
Does it need to? Stop looking into the past and be happy that SE seems to be doing a 1:1 thing now. Would you be happier if we went several patches with a bunch of male-only gear and no female-only equivalent until we had equal amounts of both in order to make things "fair"?
It sounds like you and SE aren't even on the same page. SE seems to have taken "balance" to mean that from now on, if one gender gets a set, the opposite gender will get their own unique set too. You seem to be under the impression that they were going to allow both genders to wear whatever new sets were added (or go back and modify existing sets for both genders). I personally don't understand how you could have came up with the latter from the supplied quote.

But... they're not? This patch adds one five-piece set (female-only) and two additional garments for each gender. That's seven new items for female characters versus two new items for male characters.
I appreciate that they have recently escalated our complaints and started listening, but the fact is that they made a statement back in April that balance would be looked at, acknowledged that locking inconsequential items like hats, shoes and wristbands was silly, and then continued favouring players with female characters months later in a future content patch anyway. Annoyance seems justified, especially from people who haven't been following the recent campaign to improve the way players with male characters are treated. I'm not that mad right now because I've been expecting this for a while.
In short:
- They still aren't doing a 1:1 thing now.
- The problems with the bunny costume were communicated to S-E back in April and again right after the Live Letter.
- We really, really should continue this discussion in the existing thread the reps are monitoring as it sends a much stronger message to have one thread with thousands of views than many threads with a small number each.
Actually, I missed that, so fair enough. I saw ♀ and ♂ a few times while I was glossing over the items and didn't count the difference so I concede that part of the argument. I still don't see why it's such a big deal though or how anything SE said in the quote constitutes a promise on any level.
I can't speak for anyone else, but even though I play a female character I've never taken a liking to any of the female-only items besides the Oasis Tunic and the Yukatas (that have male-only equivalents anyway). I just don't understand why people are making such a huge deal over one gender having more vanity items than another, especially when the vast majority of the (in my opinion) best looking equipment in the game is already unisex. To each his own, but I've never been the type to care so much about what someone else has in comparison to myself so maybe that's where my disconnect is coming from.
Anyways, I guess it's as good an idea as any to move over to the larger topic.

Since they usually release at least 2 sets at once, they could make one for males and one unisex. Anyone who's happy with the current imbalance should be fine with a reverse situation as well, right? A nice bonus for making male-only gear without a female version is that the devs could focus on making really masculine stuff without worrying how to properly translate the look and feel onto a female body. Y'know kind of how they gave up on making a male version of the Thavnarian Bustier and the bunny suits.
Yes, I realize I could take advantage of the gear if I wanted to (figured someone would say that immediately after I posted, but you know... I'm always too lazy to edit arguments after I post). I understand caring about it. I care about it too. It would be nice if there was more gender equality in equipment. What I don't understand is why people are making such a massive deal over it.
Some posters are taking this so personally you'd think SE pinky-promised to add X or change Y, but instead of delivering SE broke into their house and made them watch as they boiled their family alive (probably while Yoshi-P himself wore the Thavnairian Bustier and Mandervilled around the cauldron). Even if I played a male character I still wouldn't see what the big deal is about. It's just strange to me to fixate on such small percentage of gear out of all the other stuff we have to wear.
That would be nice, but in a lot of these threads I get the sense that people are primarily upset just over the difference in numbers so some of them would still complain that females still get something. Hence my admittedly smart-assed suggestion that SE only adds male-only sets until the genders are even.

We all have stuff that we care about, its fine and your right if you do not care about it, but many do and that is why we are making threads about this. All of us are customers, we pay SE to play this game and this includes the content that is being released. Imagine if SE decides that the players on the JP Datacenter get two new dungeons, the NA Datacenter one gets one and EU Datacenter gets none. Now imagine is if someone from the JP Datacenter came here and said this to a complaining EU players "Some posters are taking this so personally you'd think SE pinky-promised to add X or change Y, but instead of delivering SE broke into their house and made them watch as they boiled their family alive (probably while Yoshi-P himself wore the Thavnairian Bustier and Mandervilled around the cauldron). Even if I played on a EU Datacenter I still wouldn't see what the big deal is about. It's just strange to me to fixate on such small percentage of exclusive dungeons out of all the other stuff that we get". Yes, dungeons and glamour items are two different things, but to some they are of the same value. There are players who do not raid, but craft to collect glamour items, its their way of enjoying this game. SE should not as a company be unfair on this matter.
Players with male and female avatars pay (aside from legacy sub, entry sub etc.) the same amount of money to enjoy this game and support SE in making content that we all can enjoy. If someone does not want to raid then that is their choice, but atleast SE has given them the choice to raid or not. The players who love to glamour their male avatars are not given this choice. Yet players (who are mostly posting with a female avatar) do not seem to understand this. So to all the players who do not care, GOOD FOR YOU! But this still does not mean that we DO NOT CARE ASWELL.
@ElHeggunte this is not only directed at you, so do not take it as a personal attack. I love to glamour my male character and I hate that I am not given this option.
