Is there a way to notify SE that any suspicious activity is really legit?

I'm in the process of taking advantage of my Legacy account and I'm creating a character on every server (and transferring over to the locked ones and paying SE money, even) with the same name.

If you're about to do something that might normally trigger fraud rules on a credit card, you can notify your CC company of the upcoming weirdness ahead of time so they don't assume your stuff was stolen. (E.g. international travel, large luxury purchase, that sort of thing.)

Is there any way to tell the STFU or whatever the XIV equivalent is that, yes, I'm still in control of my account and no, it's not suspicious that there are characters named Xiv Fashion popping up on multiple servers?

If you're talking about the email that disables your account until you change your password, yes. That safety alert triggers automatically each time you login from a new IP address (which might happen without you even doing anything if your Internet provider doesn't offer you a static IP).

The only way to stop it is to add a security token to your account (either physical device for a low cost or the free smartphone apps for iOS and Android). Once added you generate a 6 digit number with it each time you want to login and that disables the IP/suspicious activity check.

Also adding a security token gives you a free teleport location in game (that you can change as often as you want).

Think I saw you on Balmung.

Anyways, unless you're blatantly telehacking you'll probably get contacted by a GM before they take action. If that doesn't happen, well, contact support when/if you run into trouble. I would not recommend contacting SE support beforehand as they do not have the greatest reputation for... consistency nor competence, and it may create more problems than it solves.

If you really want to speak to a GM, just put in a call from the in game support menu and wait.

I actually have one of the original tokens from FFXI (got one of the first ten released via a contest on ZAM.) It still works!

You did see me on Balmung; I forked over the $18 to transfer one of the Xiv Fashion clones there over the weekend. I'm probably also going to move one to Gilgamesh and Exalibur since those are locked even at 6AM EST.

The reason for this exercise is that I'm offering a featured photoshoot as one of the prizes for my 1000 follower contest on my blog, but then I realized with the patch coming up and certain servers already overflowing, I wouldn't be able to make new characters "on demand" so to speak.

They don't disable your account if you move between those IP addresses often.

I used to get locked every time I would visit a friends house or my parents but since I've done it so many times now I don't get locked out when I'm logging in from those places.

Last I checked XI authenticators won't work on XIV.

And if you have the smartphone one, it likely won't work if you go to a different region entirely as it's synced to your phone and the phone needs to work properly. I was actually advised against using it when I went to visit Europe(I'm American) on the WoW forums because of the way the apps work, since my phone will be unable to get signal there(US LTE bands aren't the same as EU, and my phone won't even work with a EU card).

They work. The authentication takes place on your square enix account, which is the same for both XI and XIV. The battery on my old XI one is probably about to die, but I have a XIV one I can swap in when that happens.

Edit: And it seems everyone is confused about my topic. I'm not concerned about SE thinking my account was hacked. I'm concerned about SE thinking that I myself have turned to the dark side and I'm doing something weird by creating a character on every server. I mean, I'd flag that as suspicious if I were monitoring character creation.

I'm not SE so obviously this is just speculation, but I really don't think they'd flag that. After all it's part of our subscription that we can create multiple characters over multiple worlds. So although most players likely only have 1, maybe 2 characters in total, I can't really see SE going to penalise anyone for actually creating all the characters they're allowed to as part of their subscription. If that makes any sense?
