The only problem with endgame are "pro" endgamers trying to cut themselves off from the "commoners" by yelping at SE to make harder content that everyone else can't do.

this is a game that is supposed to apeal to everyone in one way or another, so you're saying its fair for the ones that actually enjoy a challenge be cheated out of it just because other people cannot do it? you have plenty of easy, and normal dificulty stuff around for casual players. theres no reason to remove the few hard features that exist nowadays.

that's exactly what he's saying, and I'd agree!
The pro endgamers that complain that Alexander: Gordias (Savage) is too hard? (Yes, that includes the ones that got the firsts)
Nah, the people who complain that commoners get to watch story so they can't lord it over them in a "I've seen it haha, noob" way would qualify though. The gobwalker mount should be enough for those who do it for challenge.
Summoner first, Scholar second...but mainly crafter.
honestly for this i blame SE, constantly making old content useless, giving away easily new stuff, making old content easier (unsync, or nerf)
make 90% of the player, noob, etc etc etc
i cant say that i dont understand the frustration of some player that want to have a some real challenge
(again in ff11, this wasnt a problem ...)

not really, they could make those item like enchant
(a bit like the skyrim enchant system), have a quest, unlock the skill, and being able to re enchant (only once) any item, like so, those (24 man hard-instance) would have a point, and even with our actual system,
it wont become useless (we do have materia, why we cant have 1 slot extra slot for this purpose ?)
its just a quick idea, and i dotn even think its worth the trouble fighting around it, to say that its really bad)
or easier, do a raid, it drop a "special" materia, with the effect and your good to go
very true, mmo's are turning more and more toward the casual play style, and that is ok. we gotta remmeber that for them it is a business and that they need to keep it going in a way that pleases the masses, because well, they are living off this.
at the current state of things very few players would be willing to work 6 months to help someone else get a weapon, before its their turn, or work 4 months for a item (for example). (remember all the qqed because eso weapons would take 3 weeks of capping esoterics?!)
i just wish they wouldnt make -everything- easy. the awsome pieces from really hard content should last for more than a couple months, rewarding the ones that took the effort to get them.
i also wish the majority would stop complaining about every single thing there is, because it takes slight more work or a bit more time instead of beeing an instant gratification. (dont seee thiis ever happening though)
ps: abyssea did destroy 11 =( it was fun up to that point
Vaer has a major point with the limited life.
I agree with many on the fact that the endgame design of FFXIV is horrible because everything progress wise is the same and in a strait line. The core game design is what is preventing anything meaningful. But honestly that same problem of why we cannot have XI style content is why alot of people are stopping Alex savage as well now... the time investment to clear it too much for its lifespan.
All that work you put into clearing Coils, Savage Alex. It is all worthless in 6ish months typically. Those 600-1000 hours getting the gear... all completely pointless in the end because it will be ENTREE LEVEL ENDGAME GEAR in the next even patch.
I know the majority of people I play in my guild stop logging in until next patch because they are sick of only having Savage to do. Many said it was just not worth the work to obtain. The title of "OH we beat it" means little because what is the point on the large scale the savage alex gear will be worthless in a few months, completely worthless. Why bash your head on content, get in fights with static members, watch your guild lose members because people are left out.
The bigger issue in my opinion is The top tier gear comes from NON-GUILD related activities. Meaning there is honestly no real purpose of being in a guild besides social activities since the content was specifically designed to hurt your progression if you try to operate as a guild. This is causing endgame guilds to more or less hemorrhage members every single Even number patch. SE needs to either make more equivalent content that can be done in guilds that gets TOP tier gear.... or stop making Static content give BIS stuff it is too cancerous to endgame guilds. A Static should never be more important then your guild ever in a mmo.... and I am pretty sure the majority would agree your static is the most important thing for progression in FFXIV.
The whole island exploration thing is a good start... BUT it needs to be updated every patch... so that it is an equivalent progression with Savage Alex, AND NOT BE TREATED AS A CATCH UP MECHANIC. We also need several more types of content like this for guilds that also drop some BIS gear or equivalent. It would not fix the content negation problem, but it would help guilds not fall apart. It would also solve the problem of only having more then just a few dungeons and a hard mode raid to spam every week on a even patch.
