actually that's not a bad thing since hype can go out of control and eventually leads to being a disappointment no matter how good (since the hype was too strong)

Really though, I can't think of anything else that would seriously make me reconsider cancelling my account - if I could put up with FFXI's nonsense aspects and enjoy the actual great parts of the game for a decade, I don't see there ever being anything happening that would make me say "That's it, I'm out of here, I'm ending my account now!"

considering PvP is nearly impossible for us that enjoy it, I think youre safe

when they took away "complex" stats and bonuses like what we use to have on AF and simplified the game into the ground.....that's when I would have jumped ship....getting slightly better.

If SE starts releasing cash shop BiS items or real life money for game currency, I'd probably call it a day

I don't think there is ANYTHING that would make me instantly leave. In any case I'd stick around for a bit and see how bad it gets and try to get the devs to change their mind through the forums. Then I'd slowly and silently leave if the outcome is too undesirable^^°

But for things that have to potential to trigger the above-mentioned scenario:
- the obvious CS giving mandatory items/F2P model answer
- more nerfs to the point where i can LITERALLY afk during runs and still clear content
- taking most of the overworld away and putting all content into instances
- if the community gets any worse than how it is now, I actually might just insta-quit at some point .-.

When I heard there would be PvP in XIV I was like 'If it's open world pvp I'm not even going to touch this game". Thankfully, Yoshida was smart enough not to go that route.

Or if they stop focusing on creating a good main storyline/quests/lore. (aka the main reason why I play XIV)

Also, if they went and made it mandatory to be a member of Team Visa (aka p2w)... I'd probably be gone and fast. =\

I will echo the sentiments of those before me. If FFXIV ever went F2P, I'm out.

Also, if they totally change the way one of my favorite jobs plays again. I may also consider unsubbing. Bard was my favorite job before WM, now I dont entirely love it anymore but I don't entirely love another class the way I enjoyed Bard either.

Tbh, the retainer renting (with all things considered: subscription, inventory clutter, etc) is already pushing it...

If PvP doesn't get reworked with a good use of morale, reasonable incentive to rank up, removed gc requirements and a brand new mode that has a huge map with no RNG by the end of next year, I'd probably move on. Right now its just a vile looking room filled with ghosts who just stay there just to be. Its only testament to how much they don't care if these things are not changed. We may be the 5% of the player base, but we're your subscribers too you know.
