    Couple questions

    Hi
I was just wondering about the people wanting me to join guilds. Are they important or can they just be ignored ?.

Next I noticed that for a Thaum to get to Black Mage you need to get an Archer to 15. Both of them use intel, the Archer uses dex. Am I missing something ?.

Now for my main question. I want to get a warrior. Got my marauder to 17. Went and got my Gladiator and he's at level 11. Now I can't find any quests. Did my class quest and the Adventurers quests and now nothing. Went to all 3 zones and all the areas outside the main cities where quests should be and nothing. No kill 4 of these or 8 of those. nothing. Am I doing something wrong. Don't tell me I have to grind to 15.
    Thanks

Each job is a combination of 1 main class and 1 support class, I don't know much more than that tbh

on Free Companies, you can join them or not, it's entirely up to you tbh

For the Warrior Job, your Marauder needs to be Lvl30 with a Lvl15 Gladiator.

I wouldn't say that joining a Guild/Free Company is a must but it might be a good thing to do. Joining a Free Company might make it easier for you to get into certian Story Dungeons/Trails so that you don't have to wait in the Duty Finder for 40mins.
But I suggest that you only join a Guild/Free Company that you want to join.

It might just be that they're both DPS classes. I'm not sure, maybe someone who is a bit smarter than me could answer that.

If you want to level up Gladiator I suggest that you do Fates and maybe some Guildhests! Make sure to use the daily Guildhest roulette to get a pretty good chunk of EXP once a day.
    Another way would be Levemetes.
The Levemetes for level 10 are in Central Shroud, Western La Noscea, and Western Thanalan. The quests can be accepted in the main towns in that area or in the main cities.
You however need to unlock the ability to do Levemetes in each town but it's pretty easy.

I hope I could help you at least a litte bit!

As far as jobs go, using your example above THM transforms into BLM. Leveling ARC is a requirement, but it's not like BLM branches off of ARC. That said, BLM is capable of using various skills ARC gets like Raging Strikes (The other class they can take skills from is ACN, but this is not required to obtain BLM).

Sometimes they make sense, sometimes they don't.

Free Companies can be ignored if you want to. I've never joined one and I'm a level 60 already. However, I'm on a Japanese server so I don't really want to join FCs too much on my server. And that being said, I'm part of a social Linkshell and can't imagine playing this game alone since playing with friends makes the game so much more fun for me. I would recommended joining a Free Company and trying them out. If it's one you don't like, you can always leave and try another. Once you do find a Free Company that you like, your enjoyment of the game will most likely go up as well as you play with some new friends.

Also don't worry too much about stat allocations. Each class uses a different stat allocation. So you can go full INT on Black Mage and full DEX on Bard. And to reset these stats you can purchase an item for 200 company seals which takes like less than 1 hour to collect. The main reason for these sub classes needing to be leveled is because of Cross Class skills which is pretty important when you want to become the best at your job.

And normal quests do run out in this game. But there is an unlimited amount of repeatable quests called "levequests" in this game. But to accept a levequest, you need a leve allowance. You gain 3 leve allowances every 12 hours which caps at 100. If you want to do quests to level, try find a levemete that gives leves around your level and try them.

However for leveling up alt jobs, FATEs and Dungeons are so much better I believe. Thanks to the "Armory Bonus", all alt fighting classes get bonus EXP until they hit the same level as your main fighting class. So if you have an Archer level 20, you will gain 100% bonus EXP from FATEs and monster kills for all other fighting classes until they hit level 20. So doing a dungeon normally means 1 level up if it's around your level thanks to this massive boost.

Other great tips for helping level is to do your hunting log and unlock your challenge log.

The class quests only come at every 5 level intervals. Leveling up to 30 can go by quick. Actually leveling to 50 goes by quick if you use all the resources available as mentioned in previous posts.

    Ok, thanks all.
Been doing levemetes and that definitely helps. I'll do fates tomorrow.

I just thought it strange that I couldn't find any quests.

Thanks again for all the info.

You probably should go back to your main city and pick up the MSQ. That unlocks most of the quests (and dungeons and such) in the game. It'll lead you from place to place. Unless your level is too low for the current quest, you shouldn't have to do fates or leves at all. You have to do the MSQ. You have to. Riding skill, most of the dungeons, etc. are locked behind that.

As for your BLM, you do need thm at 30 and archer at 15. The actual stats they use doesn't matter. The more important thing is the cross class abilities you get from archer and arc. Before you get a job (which is what BLM is), you can pick and choose from all the classes but once you get the job, you can only get stuff from archer and arc. Also, your thm will continue to level the same as your thm but the other two won't. All the jobs are like that. You need the main class to be 30, the secondary class to be 15, and you get a third supporting class that doesn't have to be any level.

I would venture to say that if you were in a good Free Company, you would not need to head to the forums to ask these kinds of questions.

Yes, the game is unfortunately rather short on quests, particularly given its focus on leveling multiple classes with each character. Your hunting log plus a few FATEs or Levequests should get you to 15 readily enough, though, and after that, dungeons provide a great source of XP. So the lack of quests is more of a lack of stories rather than a lack of XP sources while leveling later classes.

As to Black Mage needing Archer, it doesn't really matter that they have a different main stat. Archer provides the Raging Strikes ability to all the ranged damage dealers, whether DoW or DoM, and that 20% damage boost is really useful. So is the aggro reduction of Quelling Strikes if you get Archer the rest of the way to level 34 (though only the first 15 levels are required). The lore explanation of why the two would be related is that learning archery gives you a better handle on the aiming of ranged attacks, which you can then apply to making your ranged spells more effective.
