Do you consider obligations a menu? And I think you're kinda jumping the shark.

Why can't you make your own obligations then? I mean, you don't have to do any of those things. Nobody is forcing you.
SWG: After Tutorial
Your thrown into a big open world with no objectives, no goals, a blaster and a Maroj Melon.
That was amazing, the feeling of being immersed into an unknown world. You had to make your own path and your own way and carve your name into it.
They don't make MMOs like that these days unfortunately.

Nothing will ever be quite like your first MMO. Unfortunately, that whole 'unknown world' is made known by numerous web sites.
There are a heck of a lot of new players in this game making their own first memories. Try to be pleasant about it.

I jumped onto Galaxies after NGE so I never got to experience that game you speak of. But then I joined for the space flight and not really the MMO.SWG: After Tutorial, Before Game Changes

First, this whole thread is an asinine argument over semantics. If they had called it anything else, you wouldn't have an issue. Your argument is over the name of the feature, not the feature itself.
Second, the objective list is there purely so they can add ESO as an incentive without having to add it to mob kills which could easily be exploited and used to bypass the new expert dungeons. They want players to experience a little bit of everything. Its a great, well thought out compromise.
But how dare they ruin your immersion...

Hmm...So your saying they made this mode so we can grind for esoterics in another way by having us do the exact same things we been doing before this patch was announced? Huh, good point, it is well thought out, nothing new at all. -clap-First, this whole thread is an asinine argument over semantics. If they had called it anything else, you wouldn't have an issue. As for *asanine arguement over semantics*......-looks at dictionary- ....HOW DARE YOU! Lol jk, I'll give you that. Actually thats true. If you can tell, I don't like being fed the dessert right away, I want the fooood -delicious food analogies here- Or even a highclass dessert as one would say. Why go half way when you cut the greatest part out?
For immersion, well that's on you. If you don' want immersion in your MMO RPG than kudos to you, cue the song and dance. XD

I'm not entirely sure if you honestly misread my post or are being intentionally obtuse.
My point was that the OBJECTIVE LIST, the whole purpose of your thread, was implemented as a way to add the incentive of esoterics to the new feature, not that the entire concept of airship exploration was added to supplement eso.
It sounds like you really just don't want to be playing an MMO. Don't worry though; fallout 4 comes out tuesday and you can get all of your immersion there without any of the distasteful side effects of having other people in your immersive single player experience.

So you tell me this, why would we need an incentive to get esoterics? Is ilvl 200 gear not enough already? If the demand for more players grinding for esoterics is that important then what has everyone been doing for the past 6 months? I'll answer that for you, grinding for esoterics. I don't see your point dude, in fact it seems like a poor excuse to make opposition. I recommend reading my points again as you don't see where I'm focusing my interests here, and if you do, well I dunno what I can do for you. Stage right, new domain. :/I'm not entirely sure if you honestly misread my post or are being intentionally obtuse.

Have fun with Fallout 4 though, I'm not a survival game kind of guy.
Maybe they should give an option to disable it for people who are so upset by this. They choose to do the check list or go in blind and have to figure out what will give you bonus chests/find hidden chests.
can always just set the HUD settings to not display the duty list before you go in the exploration, ask teh party members to do the same and the whole run will be a surprise. only issue is, you may have to set a timer on the side to keep track of how long you got left in the area.
