Character Creation

So I decided to be the guy that throws myself under massive fire and say that for being a two-year old MMO, the character creator is falling behind very quickly rapidly.

The creator itself is very lacking. You only get 2-3 things that affect the character's actual body: Hight, Bust, Tails, and ear shape. I know there are limitations currently hindering such smaller things but I speak for the future on this subject.

Personally I would like to see the creation expand extenssivley to allow for the customization of body shapes/types, musculature for all race(Lalafell, miqo'te, and elezen are currently on a fixed point), ear sizes and shapes(Humans have ears of varying shape/size, and we all know how anime catboy/girls can get), and body proportions(Such as how long the arms/legs are in respect to the torso)

I'm actually really glad someone finally said it. For a beautiful game like FFXIV, I imagine there should be a lot more options than 4-5 options per feature.

Before anyone jumps in about PS3 limitations, it's already been said a thousand times that when the PS3 starts to hold down the game majorly, they will discontinue it. I already believe the game is being held back to this point and has been for a while.

It's completely unrealistic but I'd love if they added a colour wheel instead of set colours, sliders for everything including noses, lip size, hair length.. And not just keep characters set to a face shape with only a few options. I know FFXIV can do better.

To keep it realistic, I would love if they would just unlock all options within a particular race. I'd love to be able to mix and match the eyes from face #1 and add the mouth of face #2, and maybe snag the clan-specific features from the Keepers of the Moon to use on my Sun Seeker (just as an example ).

That would add some much needed diversity to our characters.

Because the characters' bodies are so similar, one would expect many facial/tattoo/etc. options as their implementation isn't as hard as in MMOs that have 100 sliders.
I know the dev team is small so I don't want to force this, but it would be nice if they put this atleast on their one-day-to-do list.

Character creation is pretty laughably simplistic, yes.

At the very least they need to make all face options interchangeable (as well as all hairstyles) - none of that "you only get X feature or Y eyes if you pick Face Z" crap.

Hi, I totally understand OP's worries, the tittle called my attention because one of only things I hate of FFXIV is...

WE HAVE NO CUSTOMIZATION. (Add dramatic terror sound reading this)


I have seen other character creations of other games such as (Won't say name, but it has a B and a S) that are just purely amazing, you can choose the height of your character ina PRETTY DECENT range, you can choose all the body customization, face customization, till the point that some people even make really ugly chars because, they can, they can do it so deformed as they want already because there's at least the option...

Here we are all kind of copy paste... We can't even choose the size of parts of the body such as head, hands, feet... Speaking about feet we can't even have a really barefoot character * facepalm *

Note: I really like FFXIV, and, when SE does something good like finally giving us a really nice option to change Free Companies names, I'm the first going there and making a thanks post. But, I'm not a fanboy, if something is bad I have to say it, for their sake, for hoping that someday they become even better. FFXIV is lacking of customization right now, both in our character creation, and in our combat system, we don't have options, there's no different ways to gaming, there's just ONE WAY to use each job, one fixed rotation as some pros say. You can't ugprade your skills and make them different, it's plain.

Note2: You know it, start blaming PS3, Jesus Christ... They had thousand feedbacks and comments, even a giant post, just to allow auri to change their horns with different face... What did they reply? That it's some space memory and **** stuff all over gain. Why are we putting limits to the game we love just in behalf of a relic of the past? (2006 console, guys, 9 years, RIP IT. )

Note3: I want.... My lala to be a big lala some day, even if she's already tallest option x'3.... But, damn... In other games, the tallest of the small races can be as tall as the smaller of human races... That's real customization. Ready to dream, I want my lala to be Shantotto's size someday, the chances of getting that or the other size are kind of the same.

The character creator options we have now remain roughly the same as when 1.0 was released. I am sure PS3 imposes limits, but I doubt it's as much as people claim.

Before the Au Ra horns thread was locked, they mentioned that horns can't be customizable due to "core programming" they're using. Even without PS3, I have a feeling that this "core" that their talking about will be the biggest limitation we'll have to deal with.
