    With this crazy contraption just set your sites on the target/targets and let it rip!. (with an luck, you might hit something). In thoughts towards the Fisher in everything that he/she does to give them more tools to choose from this might be the next best thing, strike larger fish, and strike your enemies at the same time, "Killing Two Birds with One Stone" (sorta).

    Design; Rigged with long pointy rods; wood, iron, silver, gold (5-10max) tided ropes at each end, in a wide around launching barrier, an adjustable stand and lever on right/left side, a scope and output pressure gauge.

    Where to Find?; (free use) on some waterfronts or and get one at fishing guild or and synthesize one.

    Essence of Baits: In Small Container are captured essences of bait in a seemly empty glass tube. Concentrated smells stink to many others that it repealing them but to the fishes find it irresistible. Float one of these on to the right pond and the fish come in droves.

    Design; Looking like a dried-up piece of fruit and a completely darkened color, underground worms and other things tend to die at times then they often surface above ground; then gets baked by the sun as well as all sort of things happen, and pretty soon rends off a foul smell. (people soon begun finding out it's uses, and then begun selling the finish product it to fishers.

    Where to find? depends on the season and timing of the harvesting.


    Empty Bottles>gathering water: EB can be used to fill-up water from an water source and use it for something later. and other things as well.


    Message In a Bottle:, MiaB is for a quest or a treasure map, but some contain junk inside, be lucky or unlucky.

    Design: an old scrap of paper can be seen inside a bottle, open it and look at what is written there.

    Where to Find ?; if luck is with you maybe find 1 or 2 , be found at an seashore; and some MiaBs can be uncommonly found laying near any other waters that get washed-up; just happening to pass by then pick it up.

    got 2 more ideas for this Brainstorming ....{update} no 4 now :

    Water Spirits etc.. ( or Elementals) : Random Encounter or and After catching a set number of fish. Water Spirits appear before Fishers; and different spirits would also appear before the other DoL classes as well giving Blessings all around.

    Design; Buffs or Debuff players, or and random Gift drops (Clams /w pearls or something) or and offers transport to different location around the area, says something like "[I know of a place with better fishing would you like to go there?" [Yes or No ]].

    Where to Find?; Not just in battles, now also at Waters, Rocks, and Trees etc.
    Pond, Lake and Seas, the Spirits exist everywhere, one could appear before you someday; each spirits differs per it's area it oversee.


    [No Fishing!] Sign:
    A Stop Sign :: A Sign (both meanings seem to work well) a stop in your Plans happens in life, however sometimes it's for the better. Check around and maybe a usually Not Open fishing spot has Opened up. also as well a limitation blocking sign comes and goes.

    Design; A Sign might once and a while Float Up to the surface at bottom of its water's. A bobbing black floating ball and right below it is a Sign reading [ No! More Fishing! ] and a warning bell rings.

    Where to Find ?; Most outside waters or and center of the waters or and odd places.

    ......if anything else comes to mind I'll post more here......{update}


    Fishing & Shacks: At first sight they may look like old worn-down houses or some place someone use to live...The Shack itself is like a sort of like a break-room, so players can use it as a quick-storage for a set amount of time.

    Design; an old wooden house. go inside to hang your gear on the walls with hooks or go into the cellar to temporarily storage fish; keep stored. take a "old-sheets, old-boots, rags, etc" use for material for, a Water-hole: rain has leaked in over the years to form under the floorboards a waterhole and by some small miracle fish have begun live under their,. Moldy-walls; scratch at the old wall and get moss and other materials. fishing spots, tunnels, underground lakes, treasure, etc..

    Where to Find: in the middle of some lakes or off in the middle of nowhere at some forgotten location.

    Drinkable Water Sources: at anytime if we players go up to any water source then click and see if it's [Drinkable Water] and taste it, for Freshwater's "Drinkable", for Saltwater's "Drinkable?", and for Odd colored-water's "Doesn't look very taste..." ; different effect will happen to the character depending on which is drank. and not only that but it can be bottled as well^^ (related to other idea). Also as a "Refresh" point for Hp/Mp and other special effects ["your body began to glow?!"], (and it's nice idea for an addition). Drinking Water spots with special effect can be also used to enhance DoLs or any other class for that matter that needs it.
    (this should of been the first thing to come to mind )

    Design; water can be as clear as the sky on a clear day or dark damp and muddy, .. all of it can be drank from if you so chose to, however do so at your own risk. also don't over do it there are limits to over consumption anything.

    Harvest Mobs

    After killing some mobs the ability to harvest them would be an awesome addition. Maybe add a new skill to Fisher, Botanist, Miner.

    Fisher if you harvest a Wavekin creature you would have a new harvest skill that would allow you to essentially gut the mob you killed and possibly rescue something from the innards. Kill an angler and you would have a chance at pulling out items from the region. Such as a scorpions, lac bugs, other fish that it had recently swallowed etc.

    Miners could harvest Dobylns and get a shot at taking getting the raw materials it is named after (Iron, Quartz, Heliordar, Copper etc). As well as a chance to pull gems on occasion.

    Botanist could harvest roselings and pull spices, fruits etc. Or if treants were added they could harvest wood from the corpse.

    Basically keep it so that to harvest from a mob in this way you would need to be within 10 ranks of the mobs rank. Obviously the closer to the mob rank the better chance at securing materials. The mob would only drop items that were available in that region.

    The main issue here is that you need to be able to kill these mobs to do the harvest. So I would make this an ability that could be slotted to Disciple of War/Magic. It would essentially allow once chance at the harvest.

    If would be nice to see some Synergy between the different Class types.


    Harvestible Notorious Monsters

    Using the above it would also be cool if you could bring in some DoLs to harvest NM after they are killed. To get an extra shot at rare crafting mats.

    I love the NM fishing idea. It would be a really good and fun reason to team up with other fishers from the server.
    Regional ferries and ice fishing seems awesome too. I hope developers are a bit open towards these great suggestions.

    I also like the harvestible monster idea. That seems like a really nice addition and would make the whole system and class a bit more complex.

    Encounters with really rare spirits or mythical creatures like from those fisherman's tales ( mermaids, kraken, sirens, ghost ships, scylla, lochness monster, Ayia Napa) would also be really cool to get like rare and powerfull buffs, which last a while. And some can only be seen in specific lakes, others at sea or maybe in cave pools.

    What could also be pretty cool to make the game more complex and with greater variety. Is the chance of fishing rare fishes or other sea life, which are only able to be catched at certain weather conditions.
    Like when it storms you have a chance of catching rare fish A and when it rains fish B can be catched or at night fish C comes to the surface, so there is a chance of catching that fish only at those times.
    I don't know if this is possible with coding and stuff. But it would be really cool and maybe you could make certain items from that fish, which are really rare and difficult and tedious to create.

    An instance in which you have to catch a whale or something with other fishers would also be pretty fun to me. Again it would be a good reason to meet other people from your server and get that mmo experience because sometimes when I'm fishing on my own I almost forget I'm playing a mmorpg. xD

    Net Casting (as a >skill/job<): fold the net this way and that way ( make sure it doesn't tangle, you'd have to start over) place it in your (character's) mouth and release it like so...     There need to be Saltwater caves added to the game. Caves that are closer to the coastal areas could have salt water pools instead of freshwater pools. IT doesn't make a whole lot of sense that there are none of these currently in game.


    Spearfishing: More... Fish!
    I think its great that we can gather vipers, spiders, bugs and the like. But lets change it up a bit so that there are more nodes added to the game that have more fish as well. I mean its called spearfishing, not spearbugging. I am not asking to do away with the current spearfishing gatherers, just that you also add in some more fish as well!


    Variety: More fish combination's in grades
    One thing that I hate in the game is that if you go to a grade, water type and a region... Example, Thanalan, Freshwater, Grade 3... the fish combinations are always the same. There needs to be more variety.

    I think if say you go to grade 2 and Ala Mhigans are a FIRST obtainable in that grade then yes, they should be part of the fish pull in 80% of the waters if that area/grade. But there is no reason to not mix it up a bit more with fish of that grade and below.

    I have explored this game alot and there are massive amounts of caverns in games. Especially in Thanalan, nearly every tunnel leads to a cave with water. But they are all the same fish. Honestly, what is the point of going to ANY of these farther off places if I can get to any other closer pond for the same fish?

    Instead of the same fish all the time take fish of that water type and grade and mix it up a bit by adding a fish or two from lower grades as well to different fishing spots. You already do this by grade, mixing in some lower rank fish. But I think the game will be more interesting if you throw a combination of different fish in different ponds.

    Example: You Go to Black Shroud, Grade 3. Instead of Just having Crayfish, Black Ghost, Rainbow Trout, River Crab and Yug'ram Salmon you could have a dozen or more combos...

    Black Ghost, Rainbow Trout, Tree Frog, Crayfish, Maiden Carp
    Rainbow Trout, Tree Frog, Crayfish, River Crab, Dark Bass
    Dark Bass, Black Ghost, Crayfish, Brass Loach, Maiden Carp

    Etc, Etc etc.

    Again this promotes more exploration, promotes players spreading out to more areas etc.

    Alright, with the recent addition of Settlements that definitely resembles shacks. It's probably just a coincidence here, 5 month's back I posted an idea here about Fishing & Shacks ... definitely a coincidence but even still this is very good nevertheless ... its one step closer that I can imagine a Shack near a lake someday and content geared towards fishing mostly.
