A better way to look at dps checks would be in the mechanics like add phases were adds need to be off tanked by dps and bursted down by knowing their rotation and jobs. Seems having healers dps is a semi lazy way to deal with people who do not want to learn their job.
Ummm what? Did we play the same fights? T12 and T13 absolutely required Healer DPS to beat the enrage timers. The first T13 clears had SCHs easily over 125 dps and they still were only killing it during the enrage cast. It was much more significant for Alex savage but it was definitely required in the past

There was not a single fight in 2nd coil that I did not have to DPS as a SCH to beat enrage timer.

Any DPS a healer can put out is that much of a buffer to cover for the DPS classes who have to break off to do mechanics at a bad time in their rotations. Healers carry the raid, and sometimes you're given an opportunity to do that by making everyone else's job easier at the expense of your own.
