    Keep Calm and Game On

I want this friendly reminder front and center, even if only for a few hours.

Something I see every day while I play this game or visit the forums is pissed off people. A lot of people are getting so worked up, so enraged over a GAME? Relax. Games are supposed to be fun. I swear people think it's their whole life, or a job they're forced to work that they hate.

People complaining about other players wasting their time, while they are doing something(playing) that is meant to be a waste of time? What?

If you're so angry then take a break. It makes no sense that you continue playing; you're obviously not having fun which is the very spirit of a video game.

And if this game is the only thing in your life that is, or that makes you feel relevant; please, seek help!

Your hearts in the right place, but these threads, unfortunately, do absolutely nothing against this community.

If we're talking in-game, for a lot of normal players, when you see them "pissed off", you're probably catching them at a bad time, like after they've been smacking their head against a duty for over an hour unsuccessfully, often thanks to party members that play the game with far less care (I'm avoiding the word "casual" but that's what it is). I do agree that breaks are good for everyone, but sometimes people have the compulsive need to finish something before they take a break, and that's what fuels them (rage-filled or not) to keep chipping away at it.

This video pretty much explains the scientific reasoning behind this.....

That's right; it's not unlike any other addiction, and simply being addicted is no excuse for poor behavior. As with everything in life, moderation is key. Self-control is needed to stop and curb one's own rage, and as with any addiction, when control is lost, help should be sought.

Well on that notion, we're all just wasting our time. You can all stop and go home now!

On a more serious note, I don't disagree with you. But everyone has different play styles and, ultimately, different goals they set for themselves in the game. Along with that, everyone has different amounts of time available to pursue and achieve said goals. It's frustrating to have your time "wasted" when someone else isn't putting forth as much effort as you are to achieve the same thing.

The very idea of fun is subjective and what you find fun I might find rage inducing.

I enjoy playing with my friends for example. In that sense it's like we're having a friendly kickabout in the park and having a good time. Nothing too serious!

I don't enjoy the Duty Finder, because that's the equivalent of a friendly kickabout where one person is trying to kick the ball with his face, another is being pecked at by seagulls and the last is busy on the phone.

I love this game; I just hate the majority of people the game forces me to play with.

This community astounds me at times.

The thing with MMOs is, other people's behavior and oftentimes skill directly relate to your ability to have fun if progressing and getting things done is fun to you.

When you have people "having fun" by spending 5 minutes between each pull talking when you yourself are there to get things done, not spend an extra hour there talking to people you'll never see again, wiping to everything, etc, it's easy for the game to stop becoming fun.

While rage isn't the best reaction to have, you do have to understand the reasoning for people not necessarily having fun because other people having their idea of fun can impact your fun if you don't share it. It's easy to have fun with the game but not with the people playing it at times.

I hear you, I totally do, but the fact of the matter is we cannot change how random strangers play. This is about you (I mean everyone) to save your own blood pressure, and when things go not-so-fun, instead of blasting frustration induced rage at others, work on stepping back, remembering it's just a game, and possibly break for something else so you may return refreshed and ready to take on anything.

If you're losing your shit, then obviously you're not enjoying the game, and those around you certainly won't be enjoying the experience either. So what's the point? Even if you continued on as such, and you do get that virtual item, would it really be worth what you're doing to yourself?
