In fact, it's the exact opposite that will happen. It's now off the global cooldown, so you'll be able to weave it in between your combos without delaying them, it's a flat out DPS and threat increase.I dunno how you other Pld's do it, but for me Sword Oath on openers where everyone is doing max deeps with cd's and pots Shield Swipe for me was what allowed me to only use Halone for the debuff so I could do more dps. I guess it will be tested but I fear not having Shield Swipe available whenever it procs (and now less potency) I fear I will have to Halone more in Sword and thus really I would consider it a dps loss. Great for Shield Oath, bleh for Sword Oath which is more important to be in AMAP IMO
I think we can all agree we'd like a shift like that, at least in some instances. I'd still prefer to have some fights be DPS checks, just not so incredibly stringent as A3S and A4S. And indications from the developer interactions seem to suggest that they're moving back to more damage-heavy fights (where mitigation will matter a lot more).
Part of me thinks the 3.0 savage raids were an experiment for them to see if they could make raid encounters like this work. And I think that with some tuning, they can.
It's either that or it was a ploy to cover for the 5-month gap from expansion to patch, assuming the high DPS check would require higher item levels in general, and not accounting for the fact that low tank damage would enable healers and tanks could make up the difference.

I also remember hearing some things about changes to our DPS moves to be based on VIT instead of STR since we're the only job that really needs both stats. Any idea what happened to this?
The rework of the damage calculation for tanks is planned for 3.2. The details are only speculation atm.

What are you even talking about? Shield Swipe hasn't interrupted combos since I started in 2.1, if ever.It will greatly improve Paladin's parses by a good bit. Since their combos are no longer getting haggled by the spell that reduces their TP. People don't realize that now they can always use their chain moves without thinking about it like before because they have the TP for it now.
it didnt interrupt combos like 5ever. though i would want to see blocks resetting swipe cooldown.

He/They mean that it's one GCD in between your 3-steps combos, now since it's oGCD it's one more GCD for your actual combo.

I think he's just clueless about the class cause here he said it a different way:
Think he might be thinking of Shield Bash.

YoshiP talking about upcoming tank changes coming in 3.2. Going to be an interesting patch (four months from now, heh). From this article.A lot of those voices are probably from players in savage Alexander where there is a high reliance on tank DPS.
Yoshida: We'll be making effort to eliminate that as much as possible.
