    i think the issue is how the game has evolved , all the new encounters are tight dps checks and having a pld is a NO-NO , because everything revolves around DPS and moar DPS , tanks healers need to dps too , and the dps need to PUSH more numbers. Some boss dps check? i can understand , like some add that pops or the boss shields and u need to break the shield , or titan hearth phase...but when the whole encounter is a huge dps check /sigh

    To be fair atm War is near brd/mch on dps , and doing around 30% more dmg than pld ....Drk a little behind, how is that balanced ?

    U can give pld infinite tp all u want , but having 1 member doing 800~ dps instead of 1100~ is a huge difference no matter what.

    or being forced to be MT or OT because your class is X , not fun in that , all the 3 tanks need to be able to MT/OT period.

    Right? just like how Drks are pigeoned holed into mt role to maximize thier dps, mp regen, and are able to use thier parry procs like additional low blows, and reprisals.

    Or how about Wars are pigeoned holed into the ot role for thier dps, and thier raid dps buff?

    Sure both can mt/ot fine, but then we get this is ineffecient comments, poor use of the jobs, just like Pld is not really competitive in either role atm on anything. Pld is viable but is also ineffecient to use in the current raid scene.

    But yes you are right Drk should be mt most cases, while Pld should be ot...but ot Pld atm is just really meh.

    Because it's the content that should be adapted to tanks, not the other way around.

    PLD players want to keep the feeling that their job's survivability is relevant. It's one of the main reason why they picked that job to begin with.
    Having the meta to be focused on tank DPS instead of survivability is in itself a way to kill the job. Now if you say that the only possible place for PLD is OT, then you make half their skills completly useless.

    So, not only they loose that feeling of behing relevant because of their "tankyness", but they have no upside at being OT either... they're merely "okay" at best in the OT position.


    Oh and, a lot of end game content don't have MT/OT. You either have to switch anyway or there is simply two bosses, so the argument is moot for these fights.

    Agreed. PLD's weaknesses are the same shortcomings they had in 2.x, but with 3.x there's been a change in the role of Tanks that make these shortcomings detrimental.

    Yeah the fact that I need 100% STR - food, pots, and a Ninja to let me maintain enmity while I hang it out in Sword Oath for almost the entire encounter so I can bring subpar numbers - numbers comparable with a less geared DRK in Grit - is just... dumb. I swap to WAR or DRK in my group and things are just easier and the damage is higher.
