Source? Why do I keep seeing this? Please tell me you are not simply referring to the melds nerf, even if you are and they straight nerf tank DPS to the ground (pro tip: not happening) PLD is still be assed out because their utility sucks.
Most likley the changes that are gonna happen is a split to tank damage with VIT actually effecting tank DPS.... But once again PLD offers no real value to a raid... Which is the core of the issue.
If you look at tanks you can break their usefulness down as such:
Raidwide mitigation
Personal mitigation
Raid utility
Personal utility
Raid DPS
Personal DPS
AoE DPS
Single target DPS
AoE emnity
Single target emnity
Right now PLD is lacking in every single category with the exception of personal mitigation.

Done w/ arguing now btw, can't be bothered to have this discussion. Have fun complaining and stuff, guys.
If PLD is played right, and Clemency, Stoneskin, Cure, Divine Veil, and Cover are properly employed and used throughout a fight? They bring raid wide mitigation like nobody else. The problem is that the current encounter design doesn't call for that, which is why the devs say it's a problem of Paladins not fitting. Note especially now they've said Paladins don't have much use for Divine Veil or Clemency - two things that would bring massive utility to the table. I'm confident that encounter design in 3.2 will level the playing field a bit. Nobody knows for certain, but we can all agree that Paladins don't quite fit with the status quo, but the good thing about it is that the devs seem to realize this, which means we can look forward to seeing them be useful/desirable again.

Meh!
I still like my PLD. What makes me like it? Because I just do lol...

The cries are real right now......All PLD needs is more emnity and better AoE besides heck no dps boost. That's dumb they're the tankiest of all tanks giving them dps would make them OP. Content don't match, other problem a 3rd tank added so they got kicked sorta say. Anyhow I hope the tank dps isn't balanced or any of that. It would make the tank selection boring and almost pointless in choosing.

What? With the current meta of magic tank busters, DRK is sitting pretty as far as mitigation. WAR is quite well equipped to handle frequent spike damage. PLD doesn't offer a whole lot above and beyond either one aside from 10 seconds out of every 7 minutes. The cries are real right now......All PLD needs is more emnity and better AoE besides heck no dps boost. The fact of the matter is, nobody would really care if PLD was better at mitigation than the other two tanks unless the other two tanks couldn't survive the mechanics at all, and that would just be replacing one problem with a completely different problem instead of solving it. Right now, people want DPS and that's where PLD falls woefully short of the other two. Maybe this will change in 3.2, maybe it won't; we have no way of knowing what kind of 'adjustments' SE has in mind for tanking in general, but right now PLD is in a very bad spot.

If 210 weapons weren't gated behind A4 would PLD dps be as big of an issue? I mean if 4 dps and the tanks could get 210 weapons that would make a pretty big difference overall right - marginalizing PLDs lower damage? Just a thought

Lol you posted a link to a reddit with an ambiguous quote taken from the live letter about "damage calculations" and then some how equated that into "sweeping changes." I am failing to see how that will be "sweeping changes" to the tank meta.https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...f_tanks_in_32/

I suspect the reason you are done argueing is becuase there is nothing left to argue.
PLD utility is poor. Plain and simple.
I'm done with this game at 3.2 if they don't legitimately start leading into fixing issues created from this expansion.
At the end of the day, no one in their right fucking mind is gonna' take a Paladin into future Savage raid content because DAMAGE is the best form of mitigation for not just a single person, but the entire group. Something that's dead can't hurt you anymore. I'm EXTREMELY confident that the next raid tier will feature DRK/WAR being the most optimal group yet again.....it's been stated over and over by people that all 3 of the tanks survive equally, despite Paladin being "mitigation king." People are going to say "but the next raid tier will be more physical," and to that I direct those people to A3s and A2s. I run a DRK/PLD tank composition in my raid group and we're on wave 9 of A2s (there's some optimizing we're still doing in order to meet enrage, but we're going to beat it as DRK/PLD.) Although we're not at A3s yet, from videos and streamers I've watched, those two floors are by far the most physical out of the current raid tier......yet we both survive the same. Let's not forget the fact that our dps (MNK. DRG, SMN, BRD) are carrying the living shit out of us by, each of them, doing over average and closer to exceptionally good dps. Now people are about to say "but you have a DRK/PLD and you're about to beat a savage floor why are you saying this stuff," and to that I reply by saying that floors 1 and 2 aren't really "savage" when you get right down to it. It's only in A3s and A4s where things get really savage.
The shield a Paladin carries isn't an excuse to gimp the shit out of damage they do in content. The shield they carry isn't an excuse to NOT EVEN fix its utility or lack thereof.
So yeah, Square, go ahead and design every single encounter from now until this game dies to be suited to how Paladin can't build itself up to recover from its own weaknesses (low damage and long cast times with barely decent and situational "utility.") I'm sure people will appreciate you stretching out encounters and content in general, in fact, I'm surprised the community is falling for this. They're changing tank damage, crafting, raid equipment, materia melding, and other things to stop us from clearing their content extremely fast. They're doing this in an attempt to cover up balance issues and lack of creativity, foresight, job complexity, etc.
And yeah, I am salty as fuck right now. I've been putting up with "pld is doing fine, it's mitigation king, it shouldn't do damage, just wait for more gear, it'll get buffed in the future, you carry a shield you're op, etc" for over a year now. I can't wait for Void Ark to be a completely cancerous shit show with people outright harassing Paladins for even showing up.
EDIT: I'm actually not even going to come back to these forums anymore either. To the people I had fun talking to, keep being awesome and to those I had heated discussions with, keep being passionate. So long and thanks for all the fish!
