I realize that's a samurai weapon, and XIV doesn't have samurai (yet!) but it would be really, really nice to have weapons styled similarly to Iroha's. To match our armor rewards and all.

I completely agree. I like the look of that armor (dye-able would be a nice touch, but I won't get my hopes up too much) but having weapons likes the one shown in the dev blog would be great top complete the set. It seems to me that we get a lot of event armor but very few event weapons.
As usual I play devil's advocate here. The only weapon Iroha uses is a naginata which, lets face it, isn't too different to LNC/DRG weapons we already have in the game, which is probably the big clue why a duplicate of Iroha's weapon isn't available here. Also remember that the last FFXI crossover event we never got Shantotto's weapon either (the FFXI Fire Staff), or even her Windurstian Tactician Magician's gear for that matter.
The FFXIII event was not a benchmark for all future crossovers where weapons as well as armour were available. Presumably this is because of the need to make a individual weapon for each class and Job and, considering FFXIV has classes and Jobs that actually don't exist in FFXI (and vice versa, like SAM), it's pretty telling why Iroha's naginata is not available for players in this event.
Just because she only uses a polearm in XI doesn't mean they couldn't easily add a weapon for each job made up in the same style. The picture with her in a combat stance almost showcases her weapon, which if they hadn't talked about rewards would make me think they could be included.
