    Actually, the trend hasn't been two Hard dungeons but rather a Hard dungeon and an entirely new Expert dungeon. Further, every Trial after Praetorium has been a Hard trial with further revisits to the Trials being labeled as Extreme. The original three primals of Ifrit, Titan and Garuda are exceptions because of their early appearance during the main story. Heavensward added the Trials of both beastmen in their Hard and Extreme forms so the only one left is... wait, no, goblins have Alexander and he's a full blown raid. Also with a harder mode in Savage. There's no foundation for another Hard trial yet beyond giving the only other trial not possessing an Extreme mode an... Extreme mode, Knights of the Round. So far nothing in this rather large patch is lacking compared to past patches.

    1. Content variety is always welcome. I figured something like this was behind it. It all comes down to what each team is doing I guess. 2.1 added pvp and housing while 2.4 added rogues and ninjas. However none of those are group PVE contents. It would be useful to have a list of dev teams and their responsobilities as some people accuse the Hildibrand questline with taking away resources from raid content.
    2. Yeah it did. I only mentioned Nabriales cause it ended the main scenario so it fits this situation if there really is a mistery trial.
    3. True I just mentioned it because if there is no mistery trial and the Arboretum is a side story, this will be the only main scenario chapter without any sort of group content.

    Actually it really has been. I checked the patch notes of every major patch. All of them came with a pair of hard mode dungeons and sometimes with a new dungeon as well. Airship explorations are a pretty good alternative though as it is something entirely new.

    everything on this patch rests on the exploration missions.

    story trials are one and done and offer no replayability. we have an Ex Trial that's a step up from Ravana EX, there's no reason this has to be an EX version of whatever is in the new story. i kind of like them separate. i want a Chrysalis EX too.

    whether Arboretum is part of the storyline or not is also mostly irrelevant. it's going to be part of Expert spam either way. the Library is part of the 3.0 story, Brayflox Normal was part of the original story and both of them seemed completely tacked on. if they can't integrate them into the story properly like Vault and Aery, they should just leave it out.

    I have very little hope for the airship missions.

    I don't like 'random' *or* "reliant on being in the airship clique".

    Our ships, for example,are used for gathering crafting materials. Nothing more. They won't be *available* for airship exploration.

    The way I understand you can gather materials on exploration missions as well. Wouldn't be surprised if there were special crafting mats on exp missions that cant be obtained any other way.

    I don't care about gathered materials or special crafting materials. I don't want gatherers wasting space on my boat rides either.

    I play this game for endgame PvE, and so far, I'm not impressed by the airship content.

    If by endgame you're meaning an expectation of Savage mode type of content there, I think you're going to be sorely disappointed. It really does seem like it'll be grind-central for catch up gear acquisition and glamour, along with the insanely small potential for BiS equipment based on RNG for killing the more difficult mobs of the area. Pretty much Hunt mobs but full time and potential gear/item drops instead of seals/tomes.

    I'm talking about stuff to do involving killing monsters with level 60 characters.

    I don't craft.
    I don't gather.
    I don't Pokemon.
    I don't Gold Saucer.
    I don't PvP.

    I know, I'm a minority. Doesn't stop me from telling people what I want out of a game.

    that's what every airship is doing now because that's all they can do now. your FC needs new leadership if before the content has even come out they declared they won't let your FC members actually play the game. your FC probably also needs a better "CFO", exploration missions will have unique gathering points which probably means an FC can make a lot more gil doing that than the ventures. ventures should only be good for leveling up the ships.

    you're unimpressed with something that doesn't exist?

    my expectations are fairly limited, as long as they are better than hunts and my friends can group up to do it once a week, than it's already better than i hope.

    It wont be as big as you think it is, no. No patch in any game ever is as big as the people who overhype everything think is, this will be proven as long as one person bitches about it cause at that point the patch didnt live up to at least one persons hype.
    In all seriousness asking a question like this is completely subjective because cause everyone has different standards but more often than not, those who ask "WIL DIS BEE DA BEST PATHC EVSR GUISE??!??!" people are also the first to complain every.single.time.
