    Turbo Gamepads = A Crafter's Best Friend

Thank you, SE, for streamlining crafting to the point where you can hit X/enter nonstop for hours and get a lot of crafting done.

I'm gonna pick up a turbo controller today, fish up a shit ton of fish for alchemy, tape my X button down, ???, and profit.

I don't think tape counts as a third party program! You're good! Go go gadget third-party-household-appliance!

I, myself, might use one of those drinking birds to hit my enter button.

I bury my controller under a plate of spaghetti and let my fat roommate dig in. Every time his fork hits the X button I smile.

It's not really all that efficient to do it that way. If you would pay a little attention - and I do mean only a little, I watch netflix while crafting all the time - you can work synths that are cheaper and have a much higher sp reward, and rank up much faster. Mindlessly smacking the button only is really effective if you are doing low-level synths in my experience, not really rewarding.

What's faster, paying attention (even a little) for 3-5 hours after work and getting more exp as you say. Or farming enough mats going to work for 8-10 hours while it auto crafts for you, coming home and seeing all the exp you got for being at work. Then when you come home you can do something "fun" instead of spamming X X X X X X X X X

Huh? What did I say that makes you think this way isn't efficient? First of all, I'm spending ZERO gil for mats (the fish), leveling my fisher in the process, and the synths have a high success rate and net me about 500xp per pop.

Why should I have to pay any attention once I get the crafting ball rolling?

On a synth that gets you 500xp, I would really take a hard look at the failure rate of mindlessly spamming the button instead of using abilities. I've noticed that - when I have done similar tests - my failure rate is generally high enough to make it worth the additional effort to actually use abilities and get a higher rate of successes.

Re: the mats not costing you gil, yes they absolutely do. The shards and fish take time to farm and represent a financial loss for you when you use them. Now, you probably break even or do well after selling your results, so I don't know what the overall rate is. But it ain't free in terms of time or money.

I personally believe the game should ensure you are unable to do this. If you're not paying attention - or as the other person posted, even PRESENT - you're not playing the game; you're exploiting the game. Might as well just load up a crafting bot and cheat for real.

I hope this thread shows (through sarcasm or not) that SE really needs to make crafting more involved =/ Somethin more like EQ2's crafting system, at least.

And this is different from botting how?

Posted my feelings about this in another thread. Basically, anything that lets you progress while AFK is a poorly designed mechanic.
