Hello,

I don't believe I've seen anyone comment on this yet, but today I've been encountering obvious gil sellers sending me friend requests and then withdrawing the request only to send it again so that I get a repeated audio notification that this person wants my attention. Blacklisting works until the next name comes along and does it.



Has anyone else seen this happening?

Not a new tactic, but it does seem to be popping up in force the last day or so. I have not seen it used in a few months or so.

Haven't seen it since they banned friend requests from trial accounts..

unfortunately what that means is someone figured out and hacked into some accounts

I've gotten this same guy several times today if I'm not in a dungeon/trial. I accepted it once, seeing what would happen. They send you a message in the mail with the same advertisements they send in tells. It's fairly annoying with the FR's out of the blue. >_>

Noticed the same thing today too, and was a bit surprised. They used to do it constantly, but with the release of HW Square prohibited friend requests from trial accounts so it had dropped off completely. No idea if they're doing this with hijacked accounts, or have decided that the price of buying and losing accounts is efficient enough to justify the advertising.

I always assumed RMTs used hijacked accounts to look more "legit" than "AAAAAAAAAAAAB BBBAAAAHIJFDFS"

Thanks all for the responses. Honestly, it hasn't been bad lately until today so I figured they must have found some way to increase their abilities. If anyone's account was hacked, I feel bad for them, it happened once to me in World of Warcraft, but ever since, I use authentication keys whenever possible now.

It could also be possible that they are using stolen credit cards to get the full game instead of just the trial.

Yep I logged on and they sent a invite, I noticed it was a RMT I went to cancel, then after sent again, cancel sent again I blacklisted as fast as I could on third one.

Cousin told me the other day, that they should bring the invisible back from FFXI, this way they cannot see you on and if they cant see you they cant bug you.

Though i wonder if their bot program can sniff you out, I don't think you could send friends invites either on invisible status.
