There are also low level crafters who could use some love. Item level requirements would boost demand for gear, while your suggestion would certainly decrease it.How about having a minimal iLvl for each instance, and if the player is below the minimum iLvl, instead of locking them out, their gear will be synced upward?
Obviously this won't apply to end game content, but it would be great for leveling content, and could help deal with the inventory clutter when trying to level several jobs at once.
Yeah... unfortunately I can see where it'd be exploitable the same way that queueing with other people would be. This wouldn't even be an issue if people would actually bother to upgrade their gear. I'm always afraid of people showing up in Dusk Vigil in i90 gear (or even worse, the i50/55 AF gear) after a few awful experiences in there, so now I generally only queue leveling dungeons in premades. :/
The only ilvl requirement that is needed is for accessing level 51+ in the leveling roulette the new jobs don't get free ilvl 90 gear so it's more of a Issue than the others who just need to upgrade accessories
It is not going to help, but i90 guys are going as far as the Vault on regular basis... they might be doing even Library, but I don't like the way gear works in there so I don't farm it.Yeah... unfortunately I can see where it'd be exploitable the same way that queueing with other people would be. I don't even know how anyone makes it that far in i90 gear, seriously. I can't even say FATEs because the HW FATEs are tanky as hell and if you're using an i90 weapon you mayaswell be hitting the thing with a Nerf sword. Getting carried in FATE parties?
A DPS job is to dps therefore there should never be a limit to how much dps output you have, being content with just "meeting dps checks" is a sign of a bad dps. I'm not saying you are but as a dps you should always want the best dps possible just not for your sake but your groups time as well.
Even if you dont see any dps checks I'd recommend you parse just to compare numbers, I'm leveling my MNK atm too and I feel I'm doing my part to the group by outperforming the other dps every single run although most the times they arent parsing im sure
Again, I gotta stress I'm not saying you ARE a bad dps
Life's a tease.
Also on my phone so can't edit but my main point was I'd rather atleast ilvl 90+ was the bareminim and not that people should be running it that low really 115 would be ideal because you can get that gear from foundation with gil
While I haven't personally had any bad experiences like this with random people joining wearing gear so bad it sets the run back, I would have thought the easiest way to 'teach' new players about the need to get their gear up to date would be to put gates in the story quests before each dungeon where you have to show you're ready. Like the one you have way back at the start of the game (or thereabouts) to demonstrate that you know how to wear and upgrade clothes.
It won't stop terrible players from queueing up in ilv55 gear when they're levelling new jobs since that kind of player will always find a way to act a certain way. The issue with people exploiting ilv requirements to cheat the roulette is a legitimate concern but there are other ways to teach genuinely inexperienced players; if it's worded strongly enough ("Whoa there, Dusk Vigil is an unforgiving place so Estinien wants to check you'll be able to survive before you head in!") then hopefully the advice will stick with them on subsequent runs on their other jobs. If they're used to being carried they probably have no idea that they're not pulling their weight.
Yesterday evening I had the pleasure to meet a level 28 conjurer with his level 1 weapon (the one you get from the very first quest when you pick up the job...) in Haukke - we had to kick him because he was curing for around 100 HP and wasnt able to keep the tank up because of that - its not only a HW problem!
So, while I agree that there might be a problem with ilvl-requirments what about a "compromise": Each dungeon gets some sort of recommended ilvl that will be shown in the DF beforehand and, if you enter said dungeon with an ilvl thats lower than the one thats recommended the game will tell you - preferbadly with a constant message on your screen and recommend to upgrade your gear.
