    What was available when 2.0 first came out?

    I've been wondering lately what the top gear was when 2.0 came out (I only started playing a week or two before 2.4 came out). I'm talking about before the first patch for ARR, not the entire 2.x thing. Were there 1 star master recipes and unspoiled nodes when 2.0 came out? Were there any extreme primals and primal gear? Were there any tomestones? Did the relic exist yet?

    Back at launch we had tomestones of Philosophy (uncapped, for i70 Darklight equipment) and tomestones of Mythology (capped at 300 per week, used to buy i90 equipment that was a palette swap of the job quest stuff).

    No extreme primals, they were added in 3.1.

    We had the base relic quest (A Relic Reborn) and the ability to upgrade them to Zenith with 900 mythology tomes (was just called Relic + 1 at launch).

    The Binding Coil of Bahamut also existed for i90 Allagan equipment with the t5 weapon later being upgraded to i95 since people complained the +1 relic was equally strong but easier to get.

    On the crafting end I think we had two star crafts and unspoiled nodes at launch. No master books.

    Yeah, from a crafting standpoint, it was the 2-star weapons and armor (jewelry didn't come until later), which was crafted using Philosophy tome items. In general, it was about half the cost to buy the Darklight equipment than it was to buy the materials for the items (the exception was the crafted heavy armor, since it took up 2 slots but only used up 1 slot's worth of materials). This was eventually made cheaper by about half, but the Jewelry (which came out at that same time) was still expensive. Pretty much since the game came out, there's been a huge disconnect between crafted gear (and the hoops people go through to make it) and currency gear, with currency gear always being far more easily obtainable and crafted gear being so expensive (to justify the effort) that almost no one bought it.

    Useless crafting stuff? We had i70 left gear and weapons that were very good when pentamelded and the i70 accessories had 2 main stats + 2 secondary stats before melds, which makes them the best accessories ever introduced in FFXIV when the ilv was relevant.

    Those same accessories were usable by all classes, which helped DoL achieve higher stats caps.

    All subsequent crafted accessories sets were limited to DoW/DoM and had one main stats + one secondary stat.
