    The "Types of Threads" Thread

For those who walk into threads with names like "Why can't this game be like Blade and Soul!??", " this game completely unfair!", "Why can't we have Viera races!?" and you think to yourself, "hm, these are some valid points, I'll give a like and add a response with some more ideas":

Welp now your along for the ride (that is if you care about responses), because now there are those who will just shoot down your ideas like Duck Hunt while some sinister spectator laughs in the background. Those players could be just trolls, players who in particular hate change of any kind, people who don't like your ideas getting noticed and not theirs, or maybe your on someones to-mess-with list etc.

Of course some threads are doomed to be knocked down; Ones like, "This game isn't worth it" or "Its just too boring". While stating some commonly good points like some of these threads do, they are still implying that XIV isn't as great as some others would say it is and will more than likely call upon the fury of the fanbase defending their game to no avail where the post should simply be ignored to inevitably die (if not, then by a mod ).

Another type would be ones that have more meanings to change the gameplay style, "More horizontal gear (something something)" saying the game is rather too linear and gives the players less open mindedness for a funner expirience, while others would say "Pfft, noooo BiS something something" pretty much saying players will only want the best geared players and will only be looking for specific stats making the community even more selfish and simple minded.

God forbid that'll ever happen. XD

So, what do you think is a bad topic to discuss in these forums, or what's a good one that needs to be noticed but turned a blind eye by others?

Because honestly, I think Viera race would be pretty fricken sweet. X)

On other stuff I actually don't have an opinion - but I like reading the forums when I am at work and there is no work, it's entertaining u.u/

I have tons of opinions...some agree, some disagree but honestly any of this discussion is fine as long as it stays civil... that last part is the one that people have trouble with.

Remember just because someone doesn't like your idea/view doesn't mean they hate you as a person (hopefully).

Hmm I can agree a little there. I for one respect ideas that I don't agree with and give my points as to why, although they're are those who would do as much as to label you (directly or indirectly) as something for giving an idea. The child races for example. Some would label anything related to that topic with pedophiles or lolicons. Its terrible, yeah I know, but people do it because....idk, they don't like it. :/

There is a huge difference between a criticism thread and a bad thread which will get shot down though.

I love debating (really debating, not 2 sides going "blah blah blah only my opinion matters" on the other one) with people about points they like or don't. Having other points of view allow people to get a better graps of what they are talking about and reach conclusions they might not have thought about, or couldn't really grasp on their own. (see the raid meta throwing career MMO tanks out of their way, various discussions about X or Y job, insights on lore, etc... or sometimes just random fluff)

Viera as an example : I'd love to see them coming, but I cannot grasp a good male design for them. Now the devs seem super reluctant to have gender-specific races, so I don't see Vieras coming any time soon. But maybe someone somewhere has an awesome male Viera design which could make me think "OK, I want that".

Popular threads and topics tend to be predictable on this forum, be it in a good way or a bad way. I think it's because there is only a small amount of active posters here. Once you have read a thread on a certain subject, you have read them all.

In your opening post you didn't really take into account the possibility that neither side of a matter is 'in the right'. Gameplay related suggestions can have cons as well as pros, and for all opinions there are obviously opposing opinions. People can disagree with a post without having an agenda like you implied in the second paragraph. Unless a statement is verifiably true, it can be dismissed at will. So when the op consists of anecdotes, opinions, personal tastes, generalizations or crude assumptions, it's likely to turn into a juicy debate.

But that's ok! The purpose of a forum is to have discussions, isn't it? To bring forth your view on matters and possibly change someone else's. To answer your question, in my opinion there are no bad topics of discussion, only bad threads. Like the echo chambers without any actual discussion. Or the waste yards of personal attacks and straw men. Or the courtrooms where anyone who dares to disagree with the majority is sentenced to be ridiculed. On the other hand, the threads where all sides are heard and points are constructively criticized are a joy to read and take part in.

Some however just go on and on for terrible reasons with comments like, "it'll never happen, get over it" or they bombard the OP with insults for having the idea or it'll be bad for those who benefit from this when they're obviously talking about themselves, those are the ones I'm talking about. But yeah, debate threads are nice, I never actually found one I was interested in on this forum since most deal with lore and such; I for one likes to keep my knowledge of the lore at a given pace. Lets the mind wander you know?

About the Viera thin-HOW DARE YOU DENY VIERA!! lmao jk. I actually havn't thought about that, good point dude. I did look it up just now but I wasn't to pleased at what I found, got some weird bunny man stuff going on there. X(

Why would anyone want this game to be like Blade and Soul?
Besides the graphics, the actual combat is so boring and there is no Trinity,
the gear/loot system is awful, and features nothing new into the MMO world.

Unless they want more boobs....and butt...

What I think is generally bad is making a new thread of some subject that is already discussed in another thread, making a mess and making both, if not more, less relevant and spread the focus. Another really bad thing is people who can't write thread titles: the title should tell what's the post is about in few words, everything like "why", " this game no good" but then it speaks about a secondary meaningless option the game offers or not, or even titles so long they get cut by default. I honestly prefer the troll or funny threads as they are doomed anyway but bring some laugh at least.
