Hello,
I am new to FF14. I purchased the game last week or so and leveled to 50. I was looking forward to seeing the expansion zone when I learned that I must complete the old endgame story quest chain of 100+ quests to access the expansion. Why?
Like many players, I don't read anything. I just want to relax and play with my friends. I skip every cutscene, I click thru every dialog.
If in purchasing this game there had been a notice saying "after you level you have to go through 100+ pointless old storyquests with endless cutscenes before you can play" I would not have purchased the game. Now I am many, many hours invested and basically have no choice but to go through it anyways.
Why are you doing this to me, and yourselves?
Edit 1: a full day into this old-story quest grind, almost half done. It has been about 8-9+ hours of endless "run here" "no wait run there." The quests give approximately 1/3 of the XP of normal quests for no apparent reason. I am stocking up blue quality LV 50 gear that I will immediately replace with LV 51 whites as soon as this is over. Some food for thought- If the Devs did not want you to ever skip cut scenes or dialog, why do they even let you?
Edit 2: I maintain my opinion but am requesting this thread to be closed because of overwhelming negative responses from other players. I was simply trying to vent some frustration and voice my opinion to the devs (whether they pay attention or not) but clearly voicing this opinion is not welcome here.
Edit 3: I am done with the questline- it was a bad time. Clarification: There is NO lore argument possible which explains why you have to do this. They WRITE the lore and can write it any way they want. They WRITE the quests and have complete control. It takes seconds to create an alternate scenario that explains why you can get into a long exclusive area.
