    Thoughts on melding?

    Pentamelding hasn't really been a thing for awhile which is great because I don't ever think it should be a obligation, moreover just for perks.

    However I think the % is pretty brutal to consider it useful, even while leveling your character up (unless your using tier 1's).

    Anyone else think the % chance is too low? I think the 5th meld % chance is fine but the other 3 are kinda far off. The first nonmelded slot usually drops down to 30% chance right off the bat. Seems kinda overkill for just perks.

    This is just my thoughts but:
    first meld = 100%
    Extra slot 2 = 75%
    extra slot 3 = 50%
    extra slot 4 = 25%
    extra slot 5 =15%

    %'s will vary a bit depending on the tier of materia like they do now (high tier = somewhat lower chance...

    I think Blue gear should always be higher ilvl than the meldable gear so that no one feels obligated to meld, it should just be for perks. Like I said though, the current %'s are kinda high risk/low rewards for just being a perk.

    Whats everyones thoughts on current meld system anyway?

    My thoughts on melding: It has something to do with crafting, so I want to have nothing to do with it.

    That said, I am in no way qualified to discuss it any further, since I would have no clue what I'm actually talking about.

    It sounds like drastic changes are in store for the melding system. A complete overhaul so to speak. Penta-melding accessories was pretty much a requirement for Paladins to beat AS3 and AS4. Penta accessories have also been very popular best-in-slot items since T13 Bahamut and it sounds like the Devs are going to make adjustments that directly affect that.

    At this point I wouldn't worry about penta-melding until the patch comes out. Though I never had a problem with the percentages in the past; considering how vastly superior perfectly melded gear is. The % is also affected by which tier of materia you are trying to affix.

    Actually no, make it reverse, higher tier materia should have %.........you know what?

    It just feels like a lot of work and dice rolling, all for a miniscule benefit that, by SE's on insistence, will never exceed its ilvl or set stat caps. That, I really hate.

    Pentamelding is still a thing for raid tanks and has been for a while to the point where square feels the need to nerf it.

    But what does materia do for me, the non world-first raider? Most of the time crafted gear isn't worth the time cost, and explanations to the party to meld, compared to say, token gear, and that's not even entering the fact that not all stats have an noticable effect even if you slotted them on all pieces.

    That's not even going into elemental resistance, an entire subset of materia that is functionally worthless. Even parry doesn't fail that hard.

    I've actually never tried melding the elemental resistance to see how much it effects damage but really who would with these %'s anyway?

    They are mostly just fodder for transmutation i'm guessing.

    I'd like to see the system revamped at some point. Having more types of materia to play around with would be quite interesting. At the moment it's just sort of...there. The market on my server is completely flooded with them to the point where making a profit is borderline impossible.
