I'm on the fence about how good or relevant the class quests were in ARR comparing them to version 1.0's class quests. Using GLA as an example, as fun as they were I just didn't feel there was a deeper connection to the actual class by chasing Leavold and the Alacran around in an effort to save Aldis's worthless hide - how does that make me a better swordfighter and tank? 1.0's GLA class quests on the other hand actually had you fighting in the Colosseum against npcs (and you even had to put on a show for the crowd, doing emotes to the npcs and stuff in order to keep their attention!) as well as using the Echo to get to the truth of certain aspects of the story.

Not to mention the 1.0 class quests were directly connected into the main storyline too, the GLA class quests for instance concerning the plight of Ala Mhigan refugees and featuring certain npcs who featured in Ul'dah's original main storyline.

I'm not saying ARR's class quests weren't interesting or fun, I just.. I don't know, I guess I missed the deeper connection the 1.0 class quest storylines had (as many on this forum would know I don't usually favour aspects of 1.0 over ARR but this is one of those exceptions).
