    Deeper Class Quests

One of the things I really enjoy are the class quests in the game. I wasn't really thrilled with some of them (like WHM) while others grabbed me like the Rogue one. Wouldn't it be great if they added some solo (or group, maybe even a new roulette?) content that focuses on your job/class. The story opportunities are endless. And since the reward for them is story and/or title as opposed to class abilities the difficulty can be increased as well to make it more interesting.

    Thoughts?

Until now I enjoy with SCH last battle. SMN is cool too but not as epic as SCH. AST and DRK looks so-so for me.

It's hard to say for me. Some of them really got me hooked well others felt very bland. Maybe it's personal preference or maybe the dev team put in more thought into some more so than others.

I'd really love way more story/lore from each job honestly because it really draws me in, I also loved the little touch of once you had advanced from your base class and into a job than went back to your class trainer they'd have something else to say in remarks to you changing into a job, which is basically like this awesome legend kind of thing at times.

As for the group/roulette stuff I think that would be pretty odd, mostly cause it might consist of four people all being the same job? Either that or the roulette's would take way to long because job A needs this but jobs B and C don't, going by our tank/healer/dps roles. They would have to make changes to roulette which doesn't seem likely.

Still I'm never against more story/lore stuff.

Maybe have relic gear next time around (or this time, idk) be directly related to your job/class? For instance, for Dragoon you're helping the order restore and maintain an ancient spear of great power?

I'm on the fence about how good or relevant the class quests were in ARR comparing them to version 1.0's class quests. Using GLA as an example, as fun as they were I just didn't feel there was a deeper connection to the actual class by chasing Leavold and the Alacran around in an effort to save Aldis's worthless hide - how does that make me a better swordfighter and tank? 1.0's GLA class quests on the other hand actually had you fighting in the Colosseum against npcs (and you even had to put on a show for the crowd, doing emotes to the npcs and stuff in order to keep their attention!) as well as using the Echo to get to the truth of certain aspects of the story.

Not to mention the 1.0 class quests were directly connected into the main storyline too, the GLA class quests for instance concerning the plight of Ala Mhigan refugees and featuring certain npcs who featured in Ul'dah's original main storyline.

I'm not saying ARR's class quests weren't interesting or fun, I just.. I don't know, I guess I missed the deeper connection the 1.0 class quest storylines had (as many on this forum would know I don't usually favour aspects of 1.0 over ARR but this is one of those exceptions).

I'd quite like them to revamp the entire Companion system, so it isn't just Chocobros, but also various NPCs, then add new quests for Class/Jobs which allow you to unlock various NPCs for that system. That would be what? Twenty two Classes/Jobs? Some with potential for multiple NPCs and thus multiple quests? Would be a nice way to give us some more Class/Job lore and give us something meaningful as far as gameplay goes... Imagine having Rielle as a healer Companion, of Sid as a tank. Chocobro can still be relevant seeing as we can customize it, but having NPCs would be a nice option for people who don't have the time (and money) to level their Chocobro to the cap. Throw in the Gambit system I'm fairly sure was mentioned for Chocobros during beta while we're at it...

Only issue I can perhaps see is multiple people having Rielle out at the same time (or even having Rielle as a pet, you monsters), but I don't personally find that too immersion breaking... Would love to have a post-cap catch up with the various Class/Job NPCs, though I suppose that might clash with future cap rises... Heck, you could arguably even throw in crafting and gathering Classes to the mix... Thinking mostly of the 60 Blacksmith and Armorer quests, but the party from the later works, and you're damn right I want Laurisse instead of a Chocobro! Even the Miner quest had a group that could work as potential Companions...

It would also add potential for "Jobs" which aren't likely to be added... Fairly sure we're not getting Thief, but Jacke could effectively fill that role (Companion with Treasure Hunter!). Likewise, someone wants Puppetmaster? Level Monk and Goldsmith, and get Gigi as a Companion. Lots of possibilities with something like this, both for storylines and open-world gameplay, would add quite a lot of depth I think.

That's how I wished they'd handled Esoterics gear... Have a repeatable Job quest to obtain antiquated gear, with some nice lore and mini-trials involved... Could still tie it to tomestones and apply the weekly cap, by having the quest go "Bring my X Rowena's Tokens (Esoterics)", but it would have been far more interesting than just tomestones... I'm honestly bored of tomestones at this point... AF2 with no Job related quests was a big missed opportunity IMO. Could have spiced up the grind and given us some nice Job lore at the same time...

It be a waste of resources to introduce new quest during patches that required you to have x job leveled in order to enjoy. Not every story is going to be interesting but at the same time is every story going to be interesting if it's the same thing? By this I mean, let's just say Evil Ascian's are involved in all 50+ job quest, and each job has to overcome them and defeat them, that would get boring after a while don't you think? I think the way job quest now are fine, they all have their own story which can develop the lore around them and to add quest past the 3.0 introduction would only create less content as a whole because now the Devs would have to use their sidequest resources to create unique job quest which in turn would mean less sidequest to do unless you have x class at 60 which would discourage a lot of people to be left out of content like that.

To me, all of the healer ones were meh with the exception of AST. That final battle was delicious.

I think something like this would add some much needed depth to the game, which is far from a waste of resources IMO...

There's also the fact that it could arguably keep people playing longer... If you just have a side quest series, like Hildibrand, that everyone can quickly and readily finish up, it has a short shelf life. Something locked behind Classes and Jobs though? That has a long shelf life. Someone who hasn't leveled Monk might miss out on that content, but in the end that just becomes another thing they could do, they only miss out on it until they level Monk. It's another piece of content that makes the game seem vaster and more engrossing. Rather than going "I'm bored of tomestone grinding" and dropping their subscription until the next patch, people could instead go "I'm bored of tomestone grinding" and go aim to do the content locked behind the Classes they haven't done yet. If just a handful of people do that because of such content, then I'd say it is well worth the time and effort it would take to implement.
