You could, It's just alot easier and streamlined if your already in a group with PS4 players. I'm not saying it can't be done it's just easier and part of the same ui you are already using.

Rumor has it Skype will be coming to ps4 sometime in Quarter 1 2016.

As an alternative for PS4 chat, you can run your ps4 to the line input on a laptop/desktop sound card, then use Playstation Wireless Headphones on your PC.

You'll hear all the audio from the PS4 as well as anything else running on the PC "effectively mixing them together" and still sit on your couch.

Let's hope that it's more than rumor; this could easily solve a good number of cross-platform communication issues, no extra hardware required.

I don't think that will help that much. MostPC users prefer to use programs like Steam Speak.

I know that I woudn't like to use Skype myself for raid purposes...

Well, that's you and your FC. My FC has a considerable console playerbase; having something that *everyone* can use, bar none, can only be considered a boon.
