But teleport is a group function ... when partied with others it lets us accept a "free" teleport to the target location.

I'm more inclined to think that "Flow" is a teleportation spell that is used mid-combat, and as such is riskier as it doesn't allow for careful planning of where one wants to go. When "Flow" was used, the people affected by it were currently engaged in a fight... perhaps that is the only difference?

Edit: Removed a line regarding teleport.

Flow also doesn't seem to depend on using Aethercite to anchor yourself - which is a huge part of the risk. No anchor means you have a strong chance to lose your way. Which is exactly what happened to Y'shtola. Now, the question is, what happened to her passenger...

On the topic of dragons and paying them Aethercite gil, gil in this game really does seem to be kind of a universal force, rather than a form of currency, doesn't it? EVERYONE uses it, from friendly beastmen to milennia-old dragons to freshly-reactivated Allagan constructs. Even beyond teleportation costs, engaging in quests with these varied entities usually has gil rewards, and sometimes (as with challenge logs) gil seems to come from no source at all!

I think gil isn't something that's minted, so much as it's tapped into...

I believe this, mixed with the "combat casting" affects of "Flow" are what potentially make the spell Forbidden.

I'm eager to see what happened to Y'shtola's passenger ... :X Im hoping they're recovering somewhere after successfully reaching their destination...

Because juggling 20 different kinds of currency like in FFXI was a pain in the ass:

    Gil
    Bayld
    Imperial Standing
    Conquest Points
    Allied Notes
    Ancient Beastcoins
Ancient Currency (Byne Bills/Tukuku White Shells/Ordelle Bronze Pieces)
    Therion Ichor
    Alexandrites

    etc...
