I'm sure SE has plenty of projects for the team to work on. As long as they don't try to clone FFXI even more in this game, would be great to get some people that are more advanced in programming!

You do realize that a great majority of the FFXIV ARR team members were originally on the FFXI development team? Also there is a misconception that FFXI is shutting down, it's not - the only things that are ending is the storyline is being wound up and that there will be no new story updates done nor new expansions, and the antiquated PS2 and 360 versions are being terminated. SE will continue to support the game in other ways including bug fixes and the like. Most if not all the current FFXI team members will most likely stay on the FFXI team because they will still be needed.
Actually, he has - the Maelstrom theme Maelstrom Command, the O'ghomarro theme Quick as Silver, Hard as Stone and the Novv's Clutch theme Gluppity-schulp are all credited to Mizuta - I'm not sure if he's done any tracks for Heavensward though.

Nah when a game enter the maintenance phase you know it's a living corpse. Sure the game won't shut down but no more big patches and expansions means most of the team is completely useless. You don't need that many ppl to maintain something. No new features and expansions anymore means no more need for development. Where those people will go only Square knows. You do realize that a great majority of the FFXIV ARR team members were originally on the FFXI development team? yeah i know that , i just want more :P

Pretty much the gist of it. I remember they originally wanted to connect this title to XI via the Mog house. Then they realized they were still servicing the ps2, and called it difficulties in programing language or something and made it into XIV. As of now maintenance mode means they will eventually close down servers in a year or two when no one will notice. Unless it somehow turns into Ultima Online (still being worked on ?) or Everquest (same fate as FFXI) and dragged out over another decade. Im' thinking it'll be like the intro to Overlord and silently closed with only a few players left logged in who care at some point in time.
FFXI: Initial designs of raising the level cap eventually to 100 never happened until Abyssea mini expansions.
Wings of the Goddess dropped intended game mechanics (Bribing Beastmen NPCs for Campaign), recycled a lot of existing content, promised and postponed Alexander, Odin, Caitsith, Atomos summons for a long time. Near the end they delivered Odin and corners were cut on Alexander by making it a 2hr instead of using the Alex-idols. Aftermath of XIV 1.0, gave three mini scavenger hunt expansions and Abyssea (depends who you ask). During Abyssea, still no Cait Sith (made animation video) and Atomos avatars.
Turning into monsters as a form of pvp. Left under developed, incomplete and mostly abandoned after one or two species updates.
Adoulin: Finally created intended content from 4 or 5 years ago with Cait sith (other Carbuncle) and Atomos summons.
-----
FFXIV ARR: Elemental wheel and Stat resistance left abandoned or not implemented.
That's all I can think of at the moment. Adding in the rest of XI's team to XIV's team, had help better figure out what to do with the Elemental and Stat resistance in terms of ARR. If anything they should just get rid of resistance stats and make Elemental resistance into affinity, then tie it to crafting. As for keeping content on a schedule. FFXIV:ARR so far seems to be on track. It's a lot better than some of the things I remember from XI in terms of time in development. Splitting 2.5 makes sense as to not have people wait for hours trying to download one massive content patch. It was already stated 3.0's content would be smaller than 2.0 and I forget what was said about 4.0 in terms of content. But overall its not a fair comparison any way since the pacing in either game is completely different. Taking several years to farm or complete a story line in XI versus a day to a week on content in XIV is like apples and oranges. Just because they are both fruit doesn't mean they are the same thing.
If anything my annoyance its all the frequent weekly updates. While understandable, a extended break between updates helps with Mondays, gardening.

What people forget that the devs focused more on fixing bugs/balance new classes/skills after the release of 3.0. No worries about the next patches 3.1 and 3.15 isnt far away and 3months till 3.2 isnt long too. Dont have fun? Take a break. Some players get burned out faster than others thats it.

This is horrible advice now that houses can be lost so easily. What people forget that the devs focused more on fixing bugs/balance new classes/skills after the release of 3.0. The cash shop would like to have a word with you. Marriages, Dyes, Minions, Retainers, and much more show what SE thinks of us. They stick exclusive content/items in the cash shop. SE also refuses to solve the growing inventory issue other than recommending that we spend more money on their game.So if you go into a restaurant (fast food or not), and you are informed that due to understaffing (for example) your order will take longer than usual, you'll threaten them with never coming back again if your food is ever "late" again, saying that since you're a paying customer you're entitled to getting your food on time -- despite them warning you that it will take longer than usual.
And we'd all be better for it if SE stopped thinking of us as human beings playing their games and started acting like a 'proper' business and only saw us as a source of money. *nodnod*
(Relating to the other part of a business agreement goes both ways, you know...)
They already treat us like a suckling pig, you are being willfully ignorant if you think otherwise.
I agree. If you're paying with your hard earned cash for this game, it's perfectly fine to expect a high level of service. I can't think of a single service industry where people should be content and returning customers with sub par service for the same reoccurring price.
i cI love the level of service and asskissery people feel entitled to for $15 a month. "I'm a paying costumer!!!!" Yeah bro you just bought lunch.....
We "get gud" for our $15. The game is pretty, the people that play are nice and fun to chat with. The problem with the slow coming content is only a problem if you are head first into this game that its super important. Its not, its a game, enjoy it or find one you do.
..... Now SE, since I just white-knighted up for you.... how about that Phoenix mount? ^_^

Please keep your list correct.
In the cash shop they sell items that get mailed with the moogle mail to a single specific character.
Extra retainers is an account service you pay monthly and that count for every character on the account and are not sold in the cash shop.
Or at least put also standard account fee (extra character slots for money, monthly), server transfer and name change to your list.
Also, the marriage itself is free.

How big is the FFXI team?
I don't understand why some you are just talking about the people that have something to say about the type of content in the game... FFXIV could use some experience from FFXI even though the games are very different.
But most of all... Not everyone in a team have anything to say about how the game is developed. There are programmers designers etc etc that could join FFXIV's staff without influencing how Yoshi-P wants the game to be.
I'm sure Yoshi-P have lots of ideas for the game, but if you don't have the staff to do it all, it ends up only being their normal formula (dungeons, 24-raid/progression raid, Trial fight(s) etc). In 3.1 we're getting something new with the Airship Exploration, but they didn't have enough staff to do 3 dungeons, get Relics fully done, and the development time took longer than what we players want. Two weeks of vacation doesn't result in 4.5+ months of development. (seeing as their target is 3 months)
It would make more sense why they haven't hired more staff if this is the case... Although, I don't know how big the staff is working on FFXI...
They already learned their lesson with 1.0. I'd rather they take all the time they need and wait an extra couple months than have them release broken content early.I don't see any lack of quality, personally.
I can't help thinking of Wow and Warlords of Draenor. For the first time ever, Blizzard dropped their policy of only releasing things when they were ready and released the expansion on time. That's the reason I'm here. It has been an absolute disaster: loads of content cut, loads of things that needed fixing some of which are only being addressed now.
I would hate to see Square start rushing and cutting corners. It's frustrating to wait but I'd rather do that than pay for buggy, lacklustre content that has been rushed.
