Funny... we were talking about this exact thing in my FC last night. It is like going to the movies and saying "Its my $10 so I can play with my phone the entire time." You waste your own money and ruin the experience for everyone else.
I don't expect the best from everyone. I don't expect the best players to always be at their best. I have been playing MMOs for almost 15 years now and I have seen terrible players become decent just by taking the time to learn.
Also there is no excuse for being so bad the group cant complete content. Back in WoW my wife and I joined a new guild and we ran a Kara raid. One of the healers was of questionable skill level... seemed a bit slow to react and NEVER typed or spoke on vent. We finished the raid and I asked an officer of the guild what was up with the guy. Turns out he only had use of his one hand (kind of) and his head so he was working his mouse with his chin. If a near complete crippled person can function as an almost ok healer (at least good enough to do most content) then pretty much everyone else has no reason to be totally useless.
Another example of "its my money I can do what I want" would be most golfers. Most of them are just doing it for fun... they will never be pros and they are cool with it. Many of them are drunk and/or high. However you wont see them teeing off with a putter while 7 people stand there waiting for them to get the hell out of the way. Do people tee off with a putter? Yes. Do they putt with driver? yup. Do they do that while screwing up the game for everyone else? No.

Seems like some people here don't really knows what META means. Being a paladin in savage is not meta, it doesnt mean that they are bad because of it..

2 BRD, 1 Healer, 1 Tank: One BRD cast MP Regen, other one cast TP regen, would be much more better than Foe in my opinion, for the time a healer can DPS.. and puts DoT..Foe was probably for the healer, who should have been dpsing for sure if possible with the bards being that bad.
Not playing WM was probably because the bards wanted to "stick it to the man", let SE know they don't like it, by screwing their group over while SE will never even know the situation happened, making their efforts or lack thereof for nothing. Which is a subset of bad because plenty of bards are doing fine with WM. If they don't want to use WM, they should learn to play another job. Continuing to play BRD but refusing to use WM is like a BLM refusing to use any Fire skill, bad bad bad.
Off topic: Not gonna lie, that's pretty amazing. Also there is no excuse for being so bad the group cant complete content. Back in WoW my wife and I joined a new guild and we ran a Kara raid. If people are gonna say they spent $15 to play how they want, then I can go and say I can spend $15 to kick you out of my party so my progress isn't impeded by people who refuse to listen to instructions.
I was in DD on my Ast trying to figure out why I was sucking at keeping the tank up... all of his gear was level 30 or lower grey junk.... No HQs and no dungeon drops. How do you make it 14+ levels without upgrading your gear unless you are trying to not upgrade it?I agree and I disagree. I agree that at 60, if you're at the minimum iLV for a dungeon and play well that it's no big deal that you're at minimum iLV. You could be trying to get dungeon gear, it's your first 60, etc. As long as you play decently, most people don't get their panties in a wad. (If they do, they probably have other issues than this game.)
I disagree with every other situation though. I shouldn't go into Haukke Manor story mode on SMN and have more HP than the tank because they don't want to upgrade their armor.
This. My GF just started playing the game a few weeks ago, and she Main Healer (WHM) she's 54 now, unlocking the Aether Currents..
She cannot compete with any other healer that's been playing this game for 2 years.
She's the type to try her best, she's doing fine, but she wants more of it, so I'm lucky I guess, she'll become more and more "git gud"
But it feels like it's better to stay off the 'endgame' part, where the threshold steeps higher and everyone expect that the 7 or 23 other players will play at the same level than them, and know by heart all of their skills and perfect rotation..
For a lot of us, this kills our enjoyment. (not to say that I want to perfect myself, mind you, but I don't want to freak out with it.)
Sadly even if Yoshi-P wants to please the Casuals.. they should have made Hardcore servers.
So, those who like not to skip any cutscenes, play as they like, clearing content a a tortoise pace but.. having fun doing so.. would be hot.
then, the other one, that you absolutely need to clear a dungeon in 15 minutes because that's how it should be..
Anyway, the real deal is where everyone is at cap equipment iLvl and are doing savage raids. That's where you need to git gud. The only place.
The rest like Fractal and Neverreap, even if you complete it in 50 mins, you still complete it. True, you could have given some tips for them, but they don't care..
Just like Castrum: my GF is saying: no one talks, they don't even use the cannons, everyone just bash on everything, cutscenes are not participating so it's.. actually longer lol
Somes are undergeared to soulbind stuff.. o.O
Lots of stupid things in this game.
We have a timer to make it; SE can cut it in half, but they don't. Must be because some are not gud enuff..
Exactly.Seems like some people don't really knows what META is. Being a paladin in savage is not meta, it doesnt mean that they are bad.
Let's imagine for a moment this game with no numbers popping out. you would only see the Boss HP bar going down.. Pretty sure the game would get into a different level of fun ^^

That's the thing. Some players aren't even aware that they should be upgrading their gear and that they should look for specific stats. The game does poor job when it comes to teaching the players important knowledge.
Unless there is gear gate for instances these guys are not going to bother researching basics on their own...
There should be at least some kind of helpful reminder that you are doing something wrong... idk, something simple like a moogle following you around and mocking you in the chat till you fix the issue. Maybe even a lil bit annoying that starts cut scene interaction.
We felt terrible about it... really happy we didn't say anything to him. I was tanking and my wife was the other healer so we knew the issue was with him on the run. My wife nearly cried when she found out she was upset with someone doing poorly when they had an actual excuse.
If you look around on youtube you can find videos of people who have some serious physical limitations that still manage to play games at a decent level.
