Seer on the way?

Hullo,

I tried to find anything related to this in another topics, but I didn't find it. Not sure if people are letting this pass by or whatever, but, from previous footage/screen shot and now, with the 'teaser' from 3.1, there's this NPC that really rings me some bells.



Looking at the FF Wiki, and talking to some mates, we came to our conclusion that this NPC (nameless for now) is a Seer, due to the clothes and the hood. Doing some further research on it, it seems to be a class that if an hybrid between WHM and BLM; even thou on FF III it could also use Summoner magics.

Is this really going to happen? Are they (SE) teasing us on a new class? Hopefully (and my personal opinion is) that's going to be a playable class.

They already said that they have no plans to add new classes until the next actual expansion (4.0) so don't expect anything.

Plus the outfit they use could just be a unique outfit for the NPC, it does not have to represent a class.

That is Krile, a new unique npc who was one of the background members of the Scions of Dawn and mentioned in hearsay. She has pulled some design inspiration from the Seer Job in previous FF works, but there is no official word it will be an actual class in the game or if Krile will even be a caster (although it is likely). Chances are no for the class. Class/job npcs are generally not important msq npcs too. That's why our ninjas aren't trained by Thancred or Yugiri.

We may however get the glamour for the robe.

I know that this could be a glamour only, or NPC only, but we know that FF XIV always has something related to some other FF. As I'm an optimist, I'd like to believe that this is 'A' Seer and that's going to be a new class, even if it comes within the next expansion. *-*

If she ever draws out a new weapon I've never seen before, I'll prolly join you with those hopes and dreams. There's just too many references to Seers already for me to believe it's going to be its own thing (not to mention how it would fit in to the trinity).

The padjal are already called (seed)Seers by the lore, and you can see some of the Seer-based designs in Raya-o-Senna's and A-Ruhn-Senna's robes and skirts

Maybe they'd use wands (like ffiii). They seem to be phasing out wands for whms, and even removed the wand from Y'shtola, so that's a distinct possibility. Anyway, we'll find out with time.

The cat-ear hood was originally a white mage addition. Seer was a related branch that came later.

The NPC in question is most likely Krile, as her FFV counterpart wore the same cat-ear hood as a white mage.

Yeah! That's right. I was seeing at Final Fantasy Wiki - Seer 'offical web page', both 'Raya' and 'Ruhn' are tagged in the gallery as being 'Seers'. Also 'Kann' is marked as 'Seer'... Nice, I didn't know that!! Thanks for this info

According to the same website:

"The Seer's equipment includes staves and rods. Their armor, like most mages, is limited to lightweight vests and mage robes.

Seers tend to dress in white robes with a red or pink coat underneath. They tend to lean towards lighter armor, generally robes. Male Seers generally do not wear hoods. The most characteristic thing that differs them from White Mages is their trademark Cat-Ear Hood.

Seers have more access and proficiency with higher-rank White Magic than White Mages, and are more able spellcasters in general."

Seer seems to be a 'next level' for White Mage, but it also seems to be an hybrid between WHM/BLM. Oh... I'm dying for this to be Seer

Velox has the (more than likely) right answer - that npc is believed to be Krile who was a playable character in FFV (of course, this isn't the same one, but just a reference to her FFV counterpart) - more specifically, as Velox mentioned, her WHM sprite in FFV had the same cat-eared hood as that npc. So it's just another reference to another FF game. That doesn't mean it's 'proof' a new class or Job coming, because the development team have already flat out stated there are no new classes or Jobs coming until the next expansion which would be at least another year away.
