It's a shame what MMOs and it's player base have become. It's now more about rushing to cap, getting your shinies and complaining that there is no content. Anything that takes even a little long is too grindy. Oh well.

OP, did you check:
Your gear.
Your ability.
Your strategy.
Is your friend appropriate level? Under 20 the stat may be messed up, but once you reach lvl30 it isn't anymore, you should get a lot more Hp than before.
For instance, I was in lvl 42 Raptor grind party (No power leveling, highest was like 38) as a lvl 33 THM, and I can take 5 hits from Raptor before dying. Even went as far as kite tanking 3 Raptors. There is no way that a CNJ or THM can not take a leve with mobs +3 lvl above them >_> CNJ and THM will just eat through those like Lalafell Miqabob. A soloing GLA may not, but CNJ and THM are leves machine. In fact, I solo leves +3 my lvl from 30-32.
The OP is doing it wrong. Solo exp is faster than ever thanks to chaining and I got up to 800 exp from a single kill soloing company leves on my L30 MRD.
You guys who are soloing for good XP, what are you doing? I'm a CNJ so it may be a bit tougher for me (one I get the mob's elemental weakness thou I'm good). I'm level 27 so should I go for 24 mobs and just chain them like crazy? Should I work leves or solo grind with a lot of lower level mobs? I'm wondering what your solo strategies are, especially for mages.
The new way of leveling is party-based camp grinds like FFXI had. (Which I LOVE btw!)
As for LFG, I can guarantee that the system will be coming in the near future. Untill then, having an LS, making friends around your level, and shouting in town/looking for shouts in town is a really good way to get PT's. Soloing shouldn't be easy honestly, especially on a GLA :P They're a tank job not a soloist!
On another note, Beastmaster (Can I have it?)
So NA MMO's don't make up with grind for having so little real content, essentially having nothing to hold people over for longer than few weeks at best, while Asian MMO's do make up for it. Who knows which is the healthier approach....
OP: Guildleves are a decent source of gil, EXPing is faster using other means.
Just kill mobs your lvl or +1/2 your level, Stoneskin yourself then AoE them. Use Nuke II, don't use Nuke I, throw in Shock Spikes to stun mobs. Things will start getting easier once you're lvl 30+. It's only hard when you're under 20 because the stat distribution is a bit messed up.You guys who are soloing for good XP, what are you doing? @OP: Wait what? It didn't take me "8.3 hours" to level up for me, and that's going from 35 to 36, solo, no powerleveling. What exactly are you killing??
this game is still just an incredibly boring grind fest with nothing of value in it.
Grind is not part of games. Leveling can be made fun and interesting. Grind only applies to mindless repetition in getting what you want, in this case levels. Also learn to use commas.
