More items are constantly being added, everyone is constantly being given more and more and more.
There's 16 or 17 female-exclusive items that don't have male-exclusive counterparts. That's what people are worked up about.

Why isn't that enough? I understand the love for glamours, I really do. It's one of the things I derive the most pleasure from in an MMO. But having an agenda for the sake of an agenda, rather then asking for something that you personally want (example: May we please have X haircut for X race) seems like... you are purposely letting yourself be insulted.
Pretty sure we've been asking for more male-exclusive glamours for awhile now. There was even a response at one point that said that they'd heard us and they'd be making more male-exclusive items in the future. And yet, female + unisex is what we keep getting.

It would be glorious if every single person could be happy, but in reality... everyone can not get what they want. Of course you can share an opinion on it! (I think the Kirin wings look terrible and I hoped for feathered wings/something more mythically traditional but I guess that's just too bad ne?)
I was actually hoping for no wings, but don't much care either way.

But complaining rather then politely asking/petitioning is just creating a thread of negativity that might be viewed less favourably by developers then you would want it to. And I am not singling out the person quoted, I am just responding in general.
We can only ask politely and get ignored so many times before people start getting upset with the situation.

The fact that it isn't dyable is a disappointment, since it is a cash shop item it should have such a feature considering its exclusive nature; that goes the same for any cash shop item that has never been available in game.
I just thought that it was funny that in a twenty-page thread addressing the disparity between male and female glamour options... someone with a minor complaint about yet another female-exclusive glamour item garnered a response from a representative.

While I understand what you're trying to say about trying to keep the tone positive, may I respond to a few points which I feel are rather unfair? It's true that we're getting more and more. But it's also true that as someone with a female character you are getting more and more and more. We could just sit back and be happy for you or we could tell the truth, which is that we're unhappy at being treated like a lower class of subscriber whenever the designers give players with female characters extra goodies for no apparent reason (as people have said before, we'd actually be happier if they just came out and admitted that treating female characters better is deliberate).

Several people on the forums have been politely asking for fair treatment for the best part of this year. We had one response in April (as did the Japanese side) and since then there has been nothing until now, when a few of us have tried sustaining our complaints instead of letting the threads die out without any sign of change.

I don't mind if people view me as paranoid but I'm seeing a pretty clear pattern here when the gap is increasing and in only one direction.

Pre-Patch 2.2: Everyone had the same number of potential equippables
Patch 2.2 (26th March 2014): Female characters gained 4 extra equippables
Patch 2.4 (28th October 2014): The number rose to 7
Patch 2.51 (24th February 2015): The number rose to 11
Patch 3.0 (19th June 2015): The number rose to 16
Patch 3.1 (10th November 2015 - as yet unreleased): From the previews alone it looks as though it's rising to at least 25

Those are the numbers. I'm very, very unhappy with the pattern I'm seeing. I'm also unhappy that on top of apparently having to persuade Square-Enix that we're worthy of fair treatment, we have to collectively defend ourselves from a loud minority of regular posters on the forums themselves. If we seem grumpy at this point it's because every single thread of this type ends up attracting people who bash us for a whole spectrum of bizarre reasons (including questioning our real life sexual identities, of all things) while even politely-worded and reasonable-sounding objections casually dismiss the points that people have been tirelessly making for months. I honestly think a lot of people give up not because they don't want fair treatment, but because they get sick of all of the negative reactions to what is, ultimately, a completely reasonable request for people to make. Fortunately for me I'm a jerk with very thick skin.

As many people have said over the course of the discussion, the entire point of the complaint is that we do want those glamour items. It's not a matter of principle alone; they're good items (some of the most popular in the game, in fact, according to the last census) and the majority are accessories which have no logical reason for being gender locked to begin with. The Gold Saucer bunny ears have had the longest and most persistent campaign as it's downright ridiculous that they have been gender locked all this time and people want them for specific outfit ideas, and another campaign had multiple artists putting enormous amounts of time and energy into campaigning for fairness with the Thavnairian sets - which was ignored.

So if it's ok with you, I'm going to keep firmly campaigning until the keys on my keyboard wear out.

And this is the brunt of WHY this is an issue. When will it end? Eventually ALL of the glamour gear will favour females, and frankly, that just can not be stood for. Things started great for equality, but they need to return to their roots in this.

I want to drop a quote here from someone on these forums (from a different topic, but still relevant to the discussion):

Those who benefit from a system rarely see its flaws.
This also isn't targeted solely at you, but to many of the people who joined in (interestingly enough, with female characters)/will be joining in on the discussion with a "so what?" outlook.

I mean to me (Not like I was ever in favor of the Mog Station anyways but nevertheless) it's one thing to add past event items and call it "Optional Items" or dyes/minions/mounts because yes those are optional, they do not directly effect my Character.

But a hairstyle is Character Customization, that shouldn't be considered "Optional Items", everyone should be able to have access to all character customization options (Yes I am also including the Lightning hairstyles, not saying I want the event but it should be made available to everyone. Clothes/weapons on the other hand, go ahead and sell on the Mog Station).

To me that's the equivalent of SE adding one new face option to all Races/Genders and making you buy it on the Mog Station, or the butt sliders everyone wanted...
"You want to have some junk in the trunk? $10 and you can be bootylicious!" (-_-)

I have a theory as to why the comment about the hair being dyable was mentioned in the first place (Charatcer custimisation hair options are alray able to have their color changed ad no dye would be necessary for that). And once that isn't unprecedented.

It's not technically a character customization option, but a Wig. The precedent comes form the Bohemean headpiece, which game Snow's hairstyle to those that wore it (and since the Guardian Corps set has no head piece, the beaning+wig is the male counterpart to Lightning's hairstyle) and only until it;s work. The difference is that Minfillia's is not a beanie with the wig, but just a wig.

I'm not sure if that makes it (both the gender disparity and the fact that hairstyles are on the cash shop in any form, though the latter at least means that SE isn't going to such hyperbolic extremes as putting the Butt slider on the cash shop...yet) better or worse but I just felt like pointing that out.

This time around we’re adding Minfilia for female characters, but don’t worry – we’ll be adding Scion outfits for male characters in the future!
    /disappointed

But oh well. Can you perhaps send word to the team that designs gear to consider open front/open side long skirts? Those would not only look great with armor (a la Dark Knights and/or Foestriker's Tabards), but it's a nice style overall

I find it funny that a community rep responded to someone's inquiry regarding dyeability of the Minfilia outfit, but nothing in regards to the actual reasoning for this thread. The whole point of this thread isnt about Scion outfits for males, though yes we would like those, it's about giving male characters more gender specific glamours!

I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.

Well there is a limit that Community reps can say until there is an official response. Would you prefer they said nothing at all?

I'd prefer them sending messages to those who we're concerned with that matter instead of saying it in a thread about a different topic. Its like going at a political interview event with most people talking to one important dude about a particular problem and one person asks something completely different so the important dude just turns around to face the other guy, farts in everyone's face behind him, and answers the question. Oh, while saying "Look forward to it! "
