See this is exactly why I have supported unisex. I've grudgingly accepted the argument for just more gender-locked gear, but doing it arbitrarily like the Scion gear is ridiculous, and everyone sees it that way, even the people that hate the idea of making dresses wearable for guys, I'm sure, because those people want more unique and exclusive male gear, and you can't think of the Scion gear as being truly "unique" when it technically exists in game.

It's also like saying guys can wear anything on any class, but girls can only do it to look like a Scion.

This is why unisex is the only way to go to make things truly fair. The only way to make male gender-locked gear IS by doing it arbitrarily, and that isn't fair at all.

No one is bothered that SE put yet more items (already in game I might add) in the cash grab shop?

...and yet that will just encourage them to make 'feminine' sets for both genders which, again, screws over those of us who want some iconic and impressive looking gear created exclusively for male characters. Or at least created for them first and foremost.

The depth of design really suffers when making items unisex.

I fully expected this. I don't really see how anyone is surprised. You asked for "exclusive male gear" and "unique male gear for men only" and the best one "gear for males that females can't use". We should be pushing for 100% unisex gear not more gender locked gear and asking for things to be designed with the male and female frame in mind on more things than we have now.

If you ask for things that look good on both genders 100% of the time you limit development. If you ask for more gender locked gear then you limit the players. You can ask for more unique designs which fit both genders more often and ask for overall 100% unisex gear, but everything will be limited somehow.

I don't think that's quite right. Take the Thavnairian set; the unisex version looks nice and masculine to me (cultural values vary) while the locked one is nice and feminine. If everyone could wear either, anyone could assemble their own look tailored to their own idea of masculinity. The Best Man/Bridesmaid set is similar; the former is a nice masculine or tomboy look no matter who wears it and if guys could wear some version of the locked set we could have a fun, lighthearted piece for men who like incorporating that kind of style. Same with the Gambler attire, it's not badly designed at all just because it's unisex. The new FFXI set is nice and masculine in my opinion even though it was originally created for a girl (but then it's based on traditional armour worn by men, so it would be).

Then there are plenty of players with female characters who openly want more 'tough' looking sets as well. My in-game wife (female Miqo'te) usually wanders around in sexy glamours but when it's time to tank she's always looking for something as cool and macho as possible for her gear. Everyone will benefit if they stop gender-locking and work on satisfying the demand for more rugged gear sets for all players to wear.

The fact that recent unisex items like AF2 have been a bit of a disappointment on some frames needs looking at but I don't think that it's because they're unisex; I think it's because the design team get fatigued working so hard and put more effort into what they like best - which would appear to be making sexy clothing for ladies. I'm willing to believe that they are realising it's an issue now, thankfully.

I'm sure some people are, but this thread isn't about the cash shop, it's about the skewed glamour lock ratio, there are other threads for futility criticizing the Cash Shop

I'm still annoyed with sets that look feminine on women characters for whatever reason when they look just fine on the guys (See armor sets with boob cups..). Literally the only thing keeping SE from making unisex masculine sets is their own willingness too, you can have plenty of masculine looking things and have them be worn by men and women with little modifications.

I want masculine sets too, I don't want to be a guy to wear something that isn't showing off my character's breasts or skin or filled with frills and stuff. I'd really hate if what "fair" means to you folks means guys get only cool looking sets while girls are locked to sets that either look sexy or cute.
