Err... I'm "well aware of this"? Of what? Are you trying to put words in my mouth, or tell me what I think?

The game is good enough to me right now... or I wouldn't be playing it. It wasn't good enough to me prior to 1.18. After 1.18, it was only somewhat better to me. Now, after 1.19, I'm finding it to be quite good enough... again, to me, to play and am enjoying myself.

My expectation is that, as long as Yoshi doesn't lose his mind and completely botch it again, it's only going to continue to get better... again, for me.

The "real game" starts for me at character creation and lasts until I decide to stop playing. It doesn't even "end" at level cap for me, because there is always more to do on lower level classes... such as content I missed on the way up on previous classes.

I really don't care how great others feel the end-game is. If the game isn't entertaining me for its entirety, from day 1, likelihood is I'm not gonna be playing it for long.

For those who insist that how others play doesn't affect them... for now perhaps it don't. Given time, if left unchecked, it most certainly would. Again, you can't be short-sighted aboutit. You can't only look at how it affects you "right now", because every change made to a MMORPG has long-term effects. It changes, however subtly, the way people play it... and that affects how others experience the game down the road.

Fortunately, it seems we may not have to worry this potential train-wreck for long, since Yoshi is already aware it's a problem and is addressing it.

As for those who insist on PL'ing themselves anyway 'cause they think they're preparing for future end-game content.. Hey more power to ya. I hope you find something to keep yourselves entertained 'til then. Based on the rate at which they're introducing end-game content, and how quickly people are getting through it... it's gonna be a bumpy ride for a lot of you. Again, "hurry up and wait".

As for me, I'll be enjoying the journey. The end game will be there when I get there... whether it's 6 months, a year or more from now. I reckon a number of those arguing for PL'ing wont' be around by then anyway. They'll have long-since moved on to repeat the same cycle over again in some other MMO.

How others choose to level their classes has no effect on me.

Has zero effect on me. I think in this entire week since the patch was released I have seen one PL party which had all of 4 people in it. Even if half the server was doing it, it still wouldn't effect me because how someone else plays their character doesn't involve me unless I want it to.

kinda proves my point that you have very broken logic. least what i wrote made sense. anyway if you want to pay for a game you clearly don't like playing, then go ahead power level your way to the end miss out the game inbetween. cya next year when endgame arrives

You keep avoiding the point, what game am I missing out on by power levelling?

I spent 2 hours on Saturday grinding Nobodies just to get my Forms to level 7 in Kingdom Hearts II, by running to and from the save point in the World that Never Was. This is identical to the level grind in FFXIV, and equally as mind numbing.

Now that I have some of my main classes around 30, I am now focusing on crafting and gathering, and the millions of quests to get done. These are humongous tasks in themselves, and I am now able to do what I enjoy in the game, thanks to the little boost PLing gave me.

The fun of F1 is in the driving, and the skill from playing, not lifting the trophy at the end.

The fun of FFXIV is downing humongous beasts, earning rare and exotic armor/weapons, crafting that item that only level 50 crafters can make, and working on your materia. It is not standing in Nophica Wells for the 200th time this week, watching other people in my party AoE pull things, die, and wait for ress sickness, over and over and over.

the character development. the learning to play your player, maybe your happy with just spamming cure? there is the quests the story of the world and the lore. new patches are being released all the time with new content, not just endgame content but stuff inbetween stuff that you want see coz you got your gaze set on the horizon waiting for endgame. but as i say play how you like it really don't affect me. in answer to OP's question PL don't affect me

You do realize the game is being overhauled, right. Battle is changing, zones are going to change. In a years time this game is going to be a lot different. Are you saying all those lvl 50's out there should reroll so they can experience the new ffxvi and learn the new mechanics?

Better yet, lets wipe our characters every patch.

And lore, you can't go back and do it after you're capped?

no i dont think that. but i would say alot will wish they had one class they could level up and experience the new game with. anyway my real point is why play a game where there is a big emphasis on leveling if it bores you?

It doesn't bore me, but eventually it will.

When someone caps at 50, and maybe another 50, They've played the game, They've experienced the lore, They've done all the content. Let them get powerleveled if they choose too. They already know what to do.

Its not like this is the first mmo for alot of ppl. They already know how to play these games. There's not all that much new in the battle system that hasn't been done elsewhere and what is new can be picked up in minutes.

So in all of the above, where does the need to grind over being power levelled come in?
