I disagree with the OP. I think it is a great idea that keeps the economy moving. Materia on raid/tome gear is slots only no forbidden melds Yoshi P said himself in the live letter, you are not going to break your bank on this. I think its fun to put some of my own stats on my gear.

Ty, I appreciate it . Well I definitely feel differently about this, now. Had it been 5 per piece, wouldn't have been very happy. I guess I will be saving all future airship materia IVs I get from here on out.

I just hope that raid/token gear at least provides enough accuracy on it's own after this change. otherwise this will be your first concern when getting new gear. hate to get a few more shinies just to put in some millions to meet the accuracy check again. also while it will provide some customization, you'll likely meld crit to the cap anyway and then whatever is your next best choice. unless this change will also come with new types of materia for more specific augmentation, which i doubt though

Even with just one per item, I'll be hoerding Det V materia to make up for all the points I'm losing to Skill Speed. That way I never have to chose between Crit, Det, and SkS again.

I'll actually be able to make a BiS stat for once.

You can farm your own materia like I did on my relic, and you can go explore the islands + spiritbond like SE already stated there, so it will be easier to farm materias.

I'd like more variety of materias, that's my actual concern :/
