Suggestion: FC airship exploration should not require TWO members!

couldn't have been more heartbroken to have heard about this bizarre stipulation. my fc is just me and i've worked extremely hard. i have a mansion decorated with all the great stuff, i have three airships (c'mon 4th unlock!!!), and many sets of airship parts that i made by myself. working around the strange mechanic of three other crafters to build parts was annoying enough but to find out i can't host explorations was a kick to my head. questioning my future with ffxiv; i was stunned, baffled, and very disappointed ;-;

Bizarre stipulation? I'm honestly stunned and baffled that you have done all of this work all by yourself. Didn't you notice along the way that it was clearly meant as a group activity/effort? Why would you want that big old mansion by yourself? Did you want to just go airship flying all by yourself too? I'm not trying to be mean. I'm genuinely dumbfounded.

And if you feel this way, and you have all of these amenities, you could certainly try to grow your FC. This is a Massively-Multiplayer Online game, after all.

That being said, what kind of FC's are you all in, where there always are people online? In the evening, sure, there should be people online... but if you come online in the morning on a weekday, are there really always gonna be someone online in your FC's?

The FC I'm in usually has around 3+ members online at all times, even very early in the morning surprisingly. During prime time we usually have 10-15+ on and more during weekends, very friendly and tight knit community too.

Additionally, you need someone online who is capable and interested in doing level 60 content. There are going to be plenty of times when I'm online and I'd rather level a sub-60 class, or be busy gathering items for red scripts. Just because FC members often play together doesn't mean they ALWAYS play together, which the two person requirement would have demanded.

In order to participate in the exploratory missions through the FC route from the workshop, the party leader must be from that FC; however, other members in the party can be from outside the FC. Therefore, when flying with one airship, you’ll need at least one FC member, and when flying three airships, you’ll need at least 3 FC members.

Well, I should have formulated that better... I didn't mean that there are no FC's like that, ofc there are, just saying it's kinda weird hearing people pretty much saying there are no FC's where you can come online and see nobody else online.

My FC is pretty small (like 20 active member), and there's usually 10+ players online during prime time, but if I go online in the morning of a weekday, there are a big risk most are working/studying or just doing something else.

My FC is very tight, and out of those 10+ players are my static... so I won't really have any problems with this, since if I play earlier during the day, I can just do something else or join someone else for exploration, then do exploration when everyone is online in the evening.

Judging that the ratio of active players versus those on the forums, that perceived view.. is limited.

I was part of a bigger FC, and.. I am happy now they way things are.

Who are you to judge that a small FC has no place in this game?

Specially if you don't know a bit about what could have transpired with people..and that makes some not wanting to mingle with others except when doing instances and such..

I'm fair enough to accept that bigger FC are entitled to bigger rewards, so your point is moot.

I've kept FC friends from other FCs, so if I want help, I can use a LS or just send them a /tell.. *shrugs*

Oh? Can we do away with that utterly meaningless Light Party requirement on the Workshop as well then? It adds nothing, I'm just stuck wasting three other peoples time, regardless of where those three come from. It's still nothing more than a case of "Stand here while I do the stuff", it's just stupid. Either that or at least make it rewarding for all involved, if it was a case of progressing/finishing a piece giving everyone in the room some EXP, I'd be much more OK with having to have them there... At least they're actually getting something out of it then, rather than just watching me do all the work...

Honestly, I think the Workshop could do with a bit of a revamp... I'd rather see it work more like Private Rooms; Everyone can have their own project going at once, and they can progress and finish them themselves. I think that would work better for more of a community style thing than the current set up, as you could effectively go in there and contribute to other members projects, rather than the whole group only having one project... Would need more recipes for that to really work of course, but that shouldn't be too hard... Perhaps let us make the new gear in the Workshop? Another means to obtain it for those without a Free Company Estate of course, but if the Airship Exploration gear could also be produced in the Workshop, using materials from Airship Exploration? That would work really nicely IMO. There would even still be something of a community effort in unlocking the recipes. Honestly, the fact that the Workshop is effectively just a toy for a few individuals has always bothered me, even if I'm one of those individuals...

I'd much rather see the Workshop turned into a place where a Free Company can come together to work on different things, rather than having it remain as a place where a Free Company can come together to work on the same thing...

Ooh, now THAT would motivate people to get their butts into the workshop. I hate when I want to craft something, and everyone is busy with something else. Two days later, item is still in progress, and my inventory is full of mats I want to unload.
