"Materia-related changes in Patch 3.2
It will not be possible to use advanced materia melding for primary stats on equipment created by crafters. We will be making adjustments in the future so that advanced materia melding can be used to enhance sub-stats.

From Patch 3.2, crafted equipment will become more powerful that what it has been up until now.Furthermore, accessories will be implemented at the same time as the high-tier equipment that can be created by crafters. Additionally, materia slots will be added to raid equipment and the equipment that can be purchased with the various tomestones, so you’ll be able to add materia to boost the sub-stats that you prefer.

Many of those attempting instanced raids in the early stages tend to use advanced materia melding on accessories, which lead to tanks being required to meld STR or VIT. Due to this there were times where the melded accessories were better than the accessories which dropped from clearing the instance. In order to resolve this issue, in Patch 3.2 we will be making adjustments that will change the damage calculations of tanks into a more appropriate state.

As an overall plan moving forward, we will be making adjustments so that a burden is not placed on any particular role in order to challenge a high-difficulty raid."

When the following criteria are met, I've always felt that crafting would suddenly become 'big' again...

1) Materia can be melded to gear obtained through dungeons, raids and tomestones.
2) The best grade materia can ONLY be obtained via spiritbonding crafted gear.
3) There is no cap on red scrips stopping people from crafting more easily accessable SB gear for Tier V.

...that suddenly crafting will be massive again. Not vital, but very important for BiS without making gear from dungeons obselete. This is what I believe is the way forward. If people don't want to craft/buy/spiritbond then they can rely on Tier IV materia (which is quite cheap, and should continue to be something that will get people through things) while the hardcore BiS people rely on Tier V. That's how it should be.

So how to spiritbond them easily? By spam crafting or do mobs like on Urth's Fount?

There is still no way in obtaining tier 5 crafting/gathering material thou. Unless they want us to break down 2 star crafting gear or remain at the mercy of the RNG material goblin.

They really want to bring this overmeld RNG crap to the DoW/M classes? Why?
It's such a crappy gil sink it should be completely reworked, not made mandatory for even more players.

I saw a direct translation on Reddit somewhere that included them mentioning that raid equipment and tomestone gear won't be able to be overmelded. But I only saw that in one place, so I'm not sure if it's true or not.

A few materia sockets for stat customization surely would be nice, guess all we can do is wait for more details.
