Maybe the Doman kids are forming the new Star Onion Brigade....no! If the S.O.B comes back, there better be more than just Hyur kids, needs more cats and Lalafells.

Are there any people that would prefer there not be any comedic side stories in 3.x at all. I know some people think true art is angsty and that they would prefer dark and serious works over more comedic and lighthearted ones, and that this expansion is...turbulent to say the least
Or do you just think that Alexander and the Illuminati make Hildibrand redundant? :P
I don't mind comedy in general. But adding an entire character (and more!) just for the sake of adding them - just to have comedy? That to me is arbitrary. Forced. Constrained and overwrought, ends up being the exact opposite of funny. Are there any people that would prefer there not be any comedic side stories in 3.x at all. ...that actually is a pretty clever way of putting it.Or do you just think that Alexander and the Illuminati make Hildibrand redundant? :P
I would like some more hilderbrant quests please as would the bulk of people I play with. Please make it happen yoshi!
Not really concerned about them being in 3.1 particularly, just talking about in general.
While I appreciated the addition of some different content and quest variety, I personally didn't like the Hildebrand quests at all. I did them, and yes even followed all the quest text, but it was for the sake of completing it. Most people ive talked to about it will get almost offended when I say I found the quests yawn inducing. I never laughed a single time - the humor, to me, was what I call SpongeBob humor. It felt geared toward a younger audience. Hildibrands character in particular I just found annoying. I know many have enjoyed the series though so I dont condone killing it, I just never understood what people really got out of it. I had to make myself finish it.
Stop the presses folks! The answer to the great mystery is solved!
Yes, JP games are more geared to younger audiences. That's why the MC(s) is(are) usually in their teens. Very rarely will they use an adult for the role. The Adults are usually support or side characters that enhance the MC's growth in the story.
Some people just wont accept the fact (no attack to you Krazy) that this game isn't meant for everyone. There will be elements that you won't like or accept.
Thats a pretty blanket statement, that JP games are geared to younger audiences. That isnt true, as many japanese developers produce adult games; Bloodborne, Metal Gear Solid V to name just two recent heavy hitters. I would argue that the FF series is not really "geared to teenagers" either. Lets focus on the issue though, which was a single quest line in the game. Im not against clean or fun humor, but hildibrand was just really dull to me. The story just didn't interest me in any way. The main quest line however is really good by contrast. If they return to comedic quest lines Id like to see something better than Hildebrand personally.
Even though some of the jokes were corny, the storyline was entertaining. Kind of a break from the seriousness of the MSQ. I like the Hildibrand storyline, it made me laugh a few times, but overall, extra content is extra content and is always welcome.
The thing is - with humor there IS no "better" - there is just "different". I personally feel that Hildibrand isn't geared towards children but just a very typical type of "asian" humor. It's the type of humor that you see all the time in asian variety and game shows as well as their comedy TV series. None of them are specifially aimed at children, yet they all portray the same type of "childish" humor. If you aren't used to it, it's hard to find it funny. If you are, it's hilarious.
I guess many people who play FFXIV know other Japanese media too, so they already had their "getting used to a very different type of humor"-phase, which can take months to years, depending on the person.
