    Suppressive Fire range

    Head Graze and Suppressive Fire both share the same recast, however Head Graze's range is 25y and Suppressive Fire's is 5y. Is it possible to modify Suppressive to 25y? If a MCH is standing far away and dealing damage and suddenly the mob is using an ability that needs to be charged, there's no way the MCH will get within range fast enough to stun the target. That being said, Suppressive Fire is difficult to use unless the MCH is standing in melee range--which is the opposite of what a Ranged DPS is supposed to do. At least it makes sense for Blank Shot to be 5y since it's used defensively or when soloing to knock a target away shortly, but it makes little sense for Suppressive Fire.

    I think the reasoning is that Stun is a more useful debuff than Silence.

    Your problem is standing away as a mch, you should be near melee range so you can easily move in to use blank shot when its off CD.

    Also because a 25y stun is pretty ridiculous.

    This, most of all. Spineshatter is longer range (20y), but it drops you on top of the target instead of letting you stun with impunity from a safe distance. It's also a 60s recast, instead of 25s.

    Honestly the more ridiculous thing is the idea of an action called "suppressive fire" requiring you to get up close. Also, I can't hear the name without thinking of Archer.

    That is what I don't understand either. If it is to keep it's 5y range, it should probably have a different name. I figured suppressive fire was something you did at range to keep your enemies at bay.

    The idea that a ranged job has to stand as far away from the boss as possible needs to go. You've no idea how much of your healers' MP you're wasting.

    On topic though, it's because Stun is much more useful than Silence in 95% of all fights.

    this seems to be the best answer here because after running in for my SP i kinda stick around because "oh yeah im in aoe range for heals again."

    Maybe not 25y but something that will keep me outta normal sized AOE cones from enemies? If i wanted to be in melee range i would have been a melee.

    Except in those cases, stun is functionally the same as silence except the former is prone to diminishing returns. Even for A3S, I have not seen a difference in the interaction of the lubricants as far as interrupting their sprint is concerned.

    It's more useful on open world mobs (which are practically a joke) and PvP (which is in it's own can of worms), but for most of the party content, stun is functionally the same as silence when it comes to interrupt, and being used as a damage foddler doesn't use up the diminishing returns of the more potent one that the tank or even monk/drg
